**Grand Challenges Canada** (GCC) is seeking a **Program Associate** for the **Global Health Innovation** department.
GCC is dedicated to supporting Bold Ideas with Big Impact®. Funded by the Government of Canada and other partners, GCC funds innovators in low
- and middle-income countries and Canada. The bold ideas we support integrate science and technology, social and business innovation - we call this Integrated Innovation®. We have a determined focus on results, and on saving and improving lives. GCC works closely with a global network of partners to bring successful innovation to scale, catalyzing sustainability and impact.
Through the Transition to Scale program, GCC provides catalytic investment to innovators who have achieved proof-of-concept and are now seeking to scale their solution. GCC provides both grant and non-grant financing, as well as technical support, to best support the growth and impact goals of innovators. Since 2011, GCC has supported >230 innovators in >100 countries globally at Transition to Scale.
As one of the largest impact-first funders in Canada, GCC has funded over 1,300 innovations championed by innovators in more than 106 countries. These innovations have already improved 10 million lives, and are expected to save up to 1.78 million lives and improve up to 64 million lives by 2030.
**Program Associate**
Formally reporting to the Portfolio Manager, and working closely with the Programs Team, the Program Associate will ensure efficient, high-quality execution of a range of programmatic activities for the Global Health Innovation program. The Program Associate will support engagement with partners, innovators, and contractors at all stages of innovation sourcing and investment/contract management (i.e., sourcing, review, opportunity development, negotiation, and post-deal execution), mitigate risk and raise issues with the Portfolio Manager and/or Management as necessary. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading negotiation processes for new grants and contracts, ensuring appropriate institutional due diligence is complete for all opportunities (which includes budgetary, legal, IP, background, and project due diligence)
- Supporting the monitoring and close-out of existing grants and contracts in coordination with the Portfolio Manager
- Supporting knowledge management and translation of project and programmatic data; this includes managing project data, leading reporting and validation, supporting analysis of portfolio progress, results and lessons, updating key information in the grants management system.
- Ensuring innovator reporting is complete and compliant, including a review of progress against programmatic milestones
- Supporting quality improvement and streamlining processes cross-departmentally.
- Supporting engagement with key internal and external stakeholders, overseeing grantees and other external stakeholders’ participation to learning community and general meetings
- Communicating learning opportunities to a portfolio of innovators
**Qualifications**
- At minimum two (2) to four (4) years related program support and / or grant administration experience required
- Completion of relevant education in relevant discipline or recognized equivalent an asset
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills; bilingual English/French an asset
