The Clinic is located adjacent to the Health Sciences Center in the west end of Winnipeg, at the southwest corner of Sherbrook Street and McDermot Avenue. **Position Summary**:
The Medical Transcriptionist is responsible for typing out dictations from the doctors in the Manitoba Clinic as directed by the coordinator - Steno.
**What you will be doing**:
- Listening to audio recordings of physicians and healthcare professionals and transcribing them into medical reports
- Editing and correcting dictation performed by speech recognition software.
- Using full forms of medical abbreviations, acronyms, and medical jargon
- Converting transcribed notes into report formats for diagnostic test results, procedures, and treatment plans
- Entering medical reports into the electronic health records system or submitting transcriptions to healthcare professionals for their approval
- Maintenance and use of patient sound files, written files, and encounter documents as directed.
- Ensuring attention to detail and correctness of transcription to an error level of less than 10% unless otherwise directed to a specified productivity level as provided by leadership.
- Communication with medical team members and research as needed to ensure accuracy of transcription in all cases.
- Independent retrieval of information relevant to dictations as needed to ensure accuracy.
- Maintaining consistency of documentation in pattern with existing letterheads, signatures, headings, and other details of specific physician practices
- Proof reading of letters and other communications/documents
- Safe and responsible handling of Manitoba Clinic equipment and materials
- Detailed record keeping regarding time spent in transcription duties as directed.
- Submitting invoices for approval
- Other duties as assigned.
**You Have**:
- Graduated from an approved program in Medical Transcription or have related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- An eye for detail and accuracy is your mantra.
