- As the Director, Health, Safety & Abilities, you will be responsible for developing and executing strategies within a multi-union work environment to support service-wide goals and objectives. You will provide advice and recommendations to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) on programs, policies and services while also providing leadership and oversight to the Ability Management Unit, the Accommodation Placements Unit and the Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) Unit. Primary duties include:

- Build and maintain collaborative partnerships across CPS, The City of Calgary and external policing agencies and partners.
- Work collaboratively with section leaders to monitor staffing levels and resources to ensure successful achievement of Division strategic goals and objectives.
- Use data analysis and industry best practices to identify trends and opportunities to improve processes and procedures across all facets of Health, Safety and Abilities.
- Provide expert advice on OH&S and accommodation issues and maintain effective working relationships with our union partners.
- Provide direction and oversight on Health, Safety & Abilities policy development.
- Build and maintain return to work processes and procedures.

**Qualifications**
- A degree in Human Resources (HR) or a related field and at least 10 years of progressive experience providing advice, guidance and leadership from both an operational and corporate perspective, including 5 years of experience in senior management level roles.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- A certificate in Occupational Health & Safety is required.
- Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) Designation is an asset.
- Experience in a law enforcement and/or justice-based environment and disability management will be considered an asset.
- You have exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to immediately establish credibility and influence change and to build and maintain long term collaborative relationships.
- You are a strategic thinker with a service-oriented approach who has demonstrated sound judgement and decision making ability.

**Pre-employment Requirements**
- An enhanced security clearance will be conducted.
- Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications. Education obtained from out of country must have or be able to obtain, an Education Credential Assessment (ECA) for confirmation of equivalent credentials.
