**Number of Positions**:1 Project Coordinator
**Position Status**: Full-time, 35 hours per week, one year contract (renewable).
**Salary**:$3,500-3,920 monthly ($42,000-47,040 annually), based on experience, plus benefits (CPP, EI and 4% vacation pay)
**Location**:The Project Coordinator is expected to be able to work from the Dalhousie Transportation Collaboratory (DalTRAC) located at 1360 Barrington Street, room B105, Halifax, NS B3H 4R2 or at 5217 Morris Street, room 505, Halifax, NS B3J 1B6.
**Overview of DalTRAC**:
Dalhousie Transportation Collaboratory (DalTRAC) is a multi-disciplinary research facility dedicated to the advancement of transportation engineering/planning research and practice at Dalhousie University. The unit aims to contribute to transportation studies, planning, and analysis at local, regional, and national levels.
**Position Description**:
The Project Coordinator position involves collaboration with team members and stakeholders in the participation, organization, and promotion of highly knowledge-intensive transportation planning research activities to help achieve project goals. Duties to be performed by the Project Coordinator will include but are not limited to:
Communications (40%):
- Develops communication strategies and plans for DalTRAC projects, including the Climate Action and Awareness Fund (CAAF) project.
- Implements strategic communication plans by preparing, managing, and distributing communication materials.
- Manages communication plans for DalTRAC including the maintenance of DalTRAC websites and social media platforms.
- Develops and maintains contact lists and relevant communication tasks.
Project Coordination and Grant Development (30%):
- Coordinates and implements DalTRAC’s projects, including the Climate Action and Awareness Fund (CAAF) project.
- Identifies relevant sources of research funding from Dalhousie, local, provincial, and federal sources.
- Develops grant proposals in consultation with the PI research staff.
- Coordinates letters of support from partner organizations.
- Conducts literature reviews and other grant-related research.
- Plan and organize events including securing event space, organizing catering, tracking invitations, assisting with promotion, providing support and ensuring the successful execution of the event.
Writing and Editing (30%):
- Assisting in the preparation of technical reports, presentations, and posters for research dissemination.
- Collaboration with full-time graduate students in writing and editing manuscripts for scholarly publications in journals and conference proceedings (e.g., TRB Annual Meeting)
**Qualifications**:
- Undergraduate or graduate degree in urban planning, public administration, environmental science, management, or related program from an accredited university.
- One to three years of related experience, preferably in project coordination or communications.
- Experience writing funding proposals and coordinating multi-disciplinary academic grant proposals.
- Passion for transportation, urban planning, and related research.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, including effective verbal/written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships and partnerships.
- Strong ability to work independently to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Intermediate to advanced skills with Microsoft Office products.
- Sound behavioral competencies including teamwork and cooperation, innovation, leadership, communication, impact and influence, and valuing diversity.
**Assets**:
- Experience in an academic environment.
- Understanding of the grant writing process and/or experience writing compelling funding proposals.
- Graphic design experience.
