Waterloo EDC is shaping the future in Waterloo Region. As a dedicated B2B sales and marketing team, we focus on attracting multi-million-dollar international investments and supporting local company expansions. Since 2016, we’ve helped attract almost $2 billion in new investment to our community.

We offer a one-stop concierge service for businesses looking to locate, relocate, or expand in Waterloo Region. Acting as a central connector to the Waterloo ecosystem, we provide complimentary assistance with data collection, government funding programs, talent, immigration, and more. To support our mission and strategic projects, Waterloo EDC is seeking a curious, creative and motivated individual to join our marketing team as the Content Manager - Local Engagement on a three-year, part-time (20 hours/week) contract.

Waterloo EDC embraces a hybrid working model, allowing for the flexibility of remote work as well as the option to work from our office located in the Communitech Hub in Kitchener. Specific details can be discussed during the interview process.

THE TEAM YOU’LL BE A PART OF

In this role, you will be an important member of the Marketing team, delivering impactful client-focused content that will be distributed on a variety of channels, including the Waterloo EDC blog, website, social media channels, campaigns, presentations and third-party publications.

Together - and in partnership with the Business Development team - we will devise a content strategy and execution plan that effectively communicates our local ecosystem story and helps our clients quickly integrate into the community.

YOUR ROLE AND VALUE TO THE ORGANIZATION

Content Creation:

- Collaborate with the Sr. Demand Generation Manager and Content Manager to devise and develop content that drives brand awareness for our clients and local companies.
- Adapt content for our blog, website, newsletters, campaigns, social media and third-party publications.

Client and Community Storytelling:

- Conduct interviews with local companies to capture their expansion stories in Waterloo Region.
- Identify compelling narratives that show why Waterloo Region is an ideal location for business expansion.
- Work with Business Development team to uncover unique stories and potential business opportunities.
- Support local announcements and events and facilitate media and press outreach and coverage.

High-quality Execution:

- Ensure that work aligns with Waterloo EDC’s mission and objectives.
- Produce high-quality deliverables, adhering to content briefs and deadlines.
- Regularly communicate progress and identify roadblocks.

YOUR EDUCATION AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- Relevant post-secondary degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or related field.
- 2+ years of relevant experience, preferably in a specialist or middle management role in an agency, public and/or private sector.
- Exceptional writing and storytelling skills with the ability to adapt content for different audiences and channels.
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective client interaction and relationship building.
- Self-starter and team player with the ability to work independently and offer support where needed.
- Knowledgeable and passionate about Waterloo Region and economic development.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Fixed term contract

**Salary**: $35,000.00-$45,000.00 per year

Expected hours: 20 per week
