Applied Industrial Technologies is an extensive network of industrial distribution and shop facilities located throughout Canada. We currently have an immediate opening for a full time **General Manager - Saskatoon Shop** **in our **Saskatoon, SK **location.
The General Manager - Shops is responsible for providing leadership in the development and execution of the shop process and operations strategy in support of the overall business plan and the strategic direction of the company, specifically in the areas of customer service, operations management shop and field services sales, safety and quality.
**Roles and Responsibilities**:
- The development, effectiveness, and efficiency of the day to day operations of the shop facility working within vision as directed by Applied Canada management team and with the support of the technical services team. Operations including repair services, field services on customer sites, and assembly programs.
- Promote and actively lead safety program to ensure all processes are within regulations and program is implemented successfully and standards are upheld.
- Ability to work safely, lead by example and contribute to overall company profitability.
- Monitor, maintain and focus on continuous improvement of the shop Quality System to ensure corporate and customer quality standards are upheld, and proactive quality assurance planning is practiced
- Facilitate weekly/regular production meetings with appropriate personnel and weekly safety meetings with all shop employees
- Facilitate regular meetings with key sales management stakeholders in defined geographical area
- Ensure schedules, sequences and assignments for work activities based on work priority, availability of equipment and skill of personnel is reviewed for efficiency
- Coordinate the activities of shop floor and office employees engaged in processing and development of customer owned product to ensure customer satisfaction
- Coordinate rush jobs, overtime and be available for afterhours.
- Create, review and approve repair and field service proposals/quotations to meet customer requirements
- Provide recommendations and justification to leadership regarding capital requirements, personnel training requirements, employee development needs and other expenses based on the needs of the operation
- Review orders for profitability, communicate direction for improvement to employees and management
- Review processes to identify shop efficiencies and provide direction to improve efficiency and profitability
- Review shop expenses regularly for accuracy and financial review
- Provide clear and concise communication to employees and management
- Primary contact for customers regarding shop services
**Work Experience**:
The selected individual must have the ability to bring immediate credibility to the shop function through his/her performance, professional qualifications and leadership skills as well as project and demonstrate our core values. Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills as well as proven organizational skills are required.
**Qualifications**:
- Qualified individual with 5-7 years experience in shop setting, with preference to shop management
- Computer skills working with work order management systems and Microsoft Office programs. SAP Production knowledge is an asset.
- In-depth understanding of the products and services offered by Applied Industrial Technologies and the value brought to our customers, including
- Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Lubrication
- Mechanical Power Transmission Products and Material Handling
- Fluid Conveyance
- Above average working knowledge of the technical aspects of the products we manufacture and distribute, the products available to access and the industrial marketplace we service.
- Proven ability to understand the potential service needs of customers
- Self motivated and ability to work independently
- Ability to mentor and lead team towards common goal
- Well organized with great attention to detail and organizational abilities
