Campbell River, Canada Tula Foundation Full time

**About the Tula Foundation**

The Tula Foundation is an independent charitable foundation rooted in British Columbia with global interests and outreach. We have used our facilities and resources to create a vast network of collaborators from academia, government agencies, and First Nations. Our collective efforts have catalyzed an enormous quantity of science, education, and stewardship. Our divisions include:

- Hakai Institute - an active, engaged scientific research institution with ecological observation stations on Calvert Island and Quadra Island. Known for the long-term research we do on BC’s coast, for the scientific papers we publish, and for the compelling media we create.
- Quadra Centre for Coastal Dialogue - a division supporting meetings and workshops wherever they may happen with a designated location on Quadra Island, with meeting space and dorms.
- Media - a division showcasing the work we all do through video and award-winning journalism.
- Tula Health (TulaSalud) - an area that supports health systems for developing countries, particularly Guatemala’s rural indigenous communities, by providing education and resources.

To facilitate all of these endeavors, we need the concerted effort of the team that supports it all. More than anything else, it is the quality of that team that supports our work, but crucially, it also supports our partnerships with other organizations and distinguishes us as a cut above.

**Who We’re Looking For**

We are looking for highly dedicated individuals, people who embrace our scientific and service mission; people who don't see their work in isolation and can see the bigger picture - those who want to be a key member of a big team that is doing great work collectively. We’re looking for people not satisfied with one monotonous role - people who are willing to pitch in anywhere and who want to learn all the things.

**Responsibilities and Duties**:

- Assist in managing day-to-day operations
- Pitch in where needed, anywhere on site
- Resolve staff conflicts or issues and maintain morale
- Monitor onsite activities; ensure guests, visitors and staff are following the site rules and safety protocols
- Work with the hospitality and maintenance teams to make sure the accommodation, grounds and facilities are in good working condition
- Report any major facility issues to the Site Manager and recommend solutions
- Serve as the backup contact for guests, handling inquiries and issues promptly
- Help with travel coordination and logistics
- Provide regular reports to the Site Manager on operations, staffing, and any issues
- Keep clear and open lines of communication with the head office

**Qualifications and Skills**:
Experience: [3-5+] years of experience in a front desk or managerial role.

Education: Formal education in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred but not required.

First Aid Training is an asset.

**Skills**:

- Strong leadership and interpersonal abilities
- Attention to detail and a guest-focused attitude
- Adaptability: Remote environments are often unpredictable, requiring flexibility and quick problem-solving
- Strong Communication: Necessary for managing teams, interacting with guests, and reporting to supervisors
- Organizational Skills: Managing logistics and operations in a remote setting demands high organizational skills
- Resilience: Mental and physical resilience are important, as these roles can be isolated and demanding

This role is ideal for someone with experience in management, logistics, or hospitality, especially if they enjoy dynamic environments and outdoor or remote work.

**Why Work at Hakai**
- Competitive wages
- Exposure to nearby communities that bring local knowledge and diversity to our organization
- Ongoing training, certification, and professional development
- An environment of coworkers who are a dynamic, collaborative team
- An organization with local roots and global reach
- Travel to work in beautiful places
