- As per applicable collective agreement**Position Summary**:The Carpenter is responsible for performing a variety of skilled tasks in maintaining, repairing, altering and constructing woodwork, furniture and fixtures throughout the Interlake-Eastern Regional Health Authority’s offices and wards, and building interior and exterior structures and roofs as required. The incumbent will also set up and dismantle Infection control hoardings for various trades as required.
The position of Carpenter functions in a manner consistent with, and supports the mission, vision and values of the Interlake-Eastern Regional Health Authority.
**Qualifications**:
- Red Seal Journeyperson Carpenter Certificate as recognized by the Province of Manitoba.
- Minimum of five (5) years’ commercial experience as a Journeyperson Carpenter.
- Active employment as a Journeyperson carpenter within the last two (2) years.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and relevant legislation.
- Ability to make appropriate calculations and required.
- Demonstrated ability to follow written and oral instructions.
- Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to work independently.
- Demonstrated problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Demonstrated flexibility to facilitate changes in techniques and procedures in a changing environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge and competence of skills and concepts related to the position.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to respect and promote confidentiality.
- Ability to perform the duties of the position on a regular basis.
- Ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population.
- Ability to work effectively and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, clients and within the interdisciplinary team.
- Valid Manitoba driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle.
- Mental and physical ability to meet the demands of the position.
- Given the cultural diversity of our region, the ability to communicate in more than one language would be considered an asset.
- Proficiency of both official languages is essential for target and designated bilingual positions.
- Completes and maintains a satisfactory pre-employment security check.
- Satisfactory employment record.
