- Eastern Canada District's projects include highways, bridges, mass transit, mine site development & open pit operations, hydroelectric powerhouses, wind-power plants, dams & industrial. We serve the construction and mining industries and operate in Eastern Canada.**LOCATION**:
This position is based in Toronto. Our main office is located in Oakville.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Lead the environmental compliance for a project or district.
- Identify, assess and reduce environmental risks to the company.
- Develop and update environmental plans.
- Perform and oversee field inspections and monitoring (water, quality, underwater noise etc.).
- Identify wetland and sensitive environmental areas for protection and fencing in advance of construction activities.
- Maintain project data tracking requirements.
- Monitor, forecast and communicate environmental costs at the project level.
- Develop and conduct environmental protection and awareness training to staff at all levels.
- Function as a principal technical advisor and coordinator for environmental issues.
- Coordinate with relevant crews on their work locations, material needs, quantities and invoices.
- Identify, document, report and develop corrective actions for environmental incidents.
- Participate in project audits (both internal and external).
- Prepare project and Kiewit required reports and communication of environmental risks to project management.
- Liaise with environmental agencies and attend field visits with client and regulatory agencies.
- Liaise with the clients; providing them design information, schedule details, quantities etc. ensuring they are aware of any unanticipated discoveries, critical permitting and compliance issues.
- Review requirements and prepare proposals and estimates for new contracts.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Ability to travel and relocate as needed.
- Undergraduate degree in an environmental science or engineering field, or related.
- 5+ years' experience managing design and construction environmental compliance for large construction projects.
- Qualified Environmental Professional designation is preferred. Registered Professional Biologist (P.Biol. or equivalent).
- Working knowledge of Provincial and Federal environmental legislation.
- Pipeline inspection experience highly desirable.
- Highly motivated and self-managed to get things done right the first time.
- Effective and strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent organization abilities and time management skills.
- Strong work ethic and willing to do what it takes to get the job done.
- Superior interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Uncompromising attitude toward safety and integrity.
- Functional knowledge of English (written and verbal) is considered as an asset since mobility across provinces in Canada is required. Lessons can be provided as needed.
