The Specialist, Railcar Maintenance will be reporting directly to the Senior Manager, Rail Fleet. In this position, you will oversee the mechanical aspects of our tank car fleet, ensuring they meet the highest safety and operational standards. Your responsibilities will span from collaborating closely with operations and repair facilities to managing business needs and optimizing repair and regulatory qualification plans. The goal in this role is to ensure the fleet's safety, compliance, and operational excellence.

**Nutrien’s Rail Car fleet is made up of ~ 17,000 Rail Cars, including Covered Hoppers, General Purpose Tanks, and Pressure Tanks. Managing a fleet of this size presents a unique opportunity to lead significant projects, overseeing repair efforts while ensuring our business needs our met with a service and cost.**:
**What you will do**:

- Strategic planning and maintenance of the Nutrien Tank Car fleet.
- Responsible for all aspects of Nutrien’s rail car fleet maintenance, including:

- Coordination
- Payment for services
- Compliance with regulatory requirements (FRA, TDG, AAR)
- Quality assurance (auditing)
- Coordination of maintenance with 3rd party shops, on-site facilities, and mobile repair services.
- Develop maintenance strategies that meet regulatory requirements and align with operations plans.
- Collaborate with rail operations, manufacturing plants/sites, various Nutrien departments, customers, rail regulatory team and rail carriers as needed.
- Assist with rail fleet planning and strategy as needed.
- Maintenance of systems used for tracking and reporting.
- Assist with scope of work related to new car builds as needed.
- Responsible for mechanical data completion in various databases.
- Engage in the long-term vision within the railcar fleet area and the broader Transportation, Distribution and Logistics group.
- Act as both a protégé and a mentor within your responsibilities and have a continuous improvement mindset.
- Conduct ad-hoc analysis including comparative analysis, responding to various inquiries from multiple teams, using multiple data sources.
- Manage and assist with various reporting including cost analysis, cycle time shop performance, mechanical trend analysis, safety shares.
- Manage and assist with various projects, including master data management, data consolidation.

**What you will bring**:

- University degree preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years' experience in rail, fleet management or a technical capacity.
- Existing knowledge of Tank car regulations and requirements is preferred.
- Previous railcar maintenance knowledge is a pre-requisite.
- Standards compliance and rail cars regulatory framework knowledge will be considered an asset.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Analytical skills, with strength in excel (pivot tables, graphs, charts) and data management Commercial experience in parts or service planning and procurement.
