Job Summary
Reporting to the Vice President & Chief Strategy Officer, the Assistant Vice President, ATS Learning role is critical to ensuring that NAV CANADA’s training programs are designed, developed and delivered to meet the need of operational staffing and Strategic Initiatives, providing a training solution that is agile and responsive to fluctuation in demand.
**Job Description**:
In this role your will:
- Leads the design and development of technical and professional skills development curricula and management and leadership learning programs.
- Leads the delivery of training programs in a complex operational environment
- Consults with senior executives within best practice educational institutions, industries and associations on innovative, cost effective, retention building learning techniques.
- Leads a team of learning experts, ensuring their professional skills are kept current and in line with corporate requirements and industry best practices.
- Directs and manages the allocation of the ATS Learning budget for the design, development and delivery of professional and technical skills development programs and management and leadership learning programs.
- Ensures that the learning curriculum and related third-party solutions are aligned with technical competencies and adjusts same in line with corporate requirements and industry best practices.
- Ensures the training programs meet the requirements for Operational staffing and Strategic Initiatives
- Ensures all training programs are compliant to Transport Canada regulations applicable to training
What you bring:
- 10+ years in progressive leadership roles.
- 8+ years experience in project management, product management or business analysis, preferably in the Air Navigation service industry;
- 5 years of relevant experience in a leadership role in training, teaching or coaching
- knowledge of Canadian aviation legislation and regulations, Canadian and international air navigation systems; national and international standards and criteria governing instrument flight procedures, airspace classification and airspace structures.
- knowledge of air traffic control standards and criteria; and, aircraft flight and navigational characteristics and operational capabilities.
- Expert knowledge of the practices and techniques associated with managing a large team of professionals, which includes hiring, allocating priorities, monitoring performance, providing direction, coaching and guidance in reaching business goals.
- Strong knowledge of the techniques and practices related to the management of a budget, the development of forecasts and budget plans for a large team in a complex environment

Working Conditions:
- This position is based at the Ottawa Head Office but may be eligible for a flexible work arrangement.
