This position resides in the Ministry of Health under the Acute Care Division, within the Quality Planning & Performance Programs Branch and Acute Care Branch.
**Role Responsibilities**:
**Director, Provincial Programs**
**Healthcare Portfolio Management**:
- Oversee and coordinate a growing portfolio to ensure effective access to healthcare in Alberta's acute care system.
- Analyze trends and innovations in healthcare both nationally and internationally.
- Manage policy and legislative reviews related to acute care priorities.
- Build networks with various internal and external stakeholders.
- Lead proactive and timely issues management processes.
- Develop communication strategies for significant announcements on wait times and access.
- Collaborate with healthcare colleagues (e.g., AHS, Colleges, PIINS) to support provincial acute care programs.
**Relationship Management**:
- Establish and maintain strategic networks with stakeholders.
- Connect health system priorities with existing initiatives.
- Represent the organization in cross-ministry committees.
- Facilitate staff engagement by identifying relevant contacts.
- Involve executives and staff in operational planning and evaluation. Work with branch leaders to advance division priorities and promote information sharing.**Decision Making**:
- Exercise independent decision-making on planning, coordination, and integration of initiatives.
- Align decisions with the organization's vision and strategic direction.
- Provide guidance on key priorities to team members in accordance with departmental goals.

**Policy Portfolio Management**:
- Oversee and deliver a growing surgical policy portfolio to ensure effective access and timely delivery of surgical services in Alberta.
- Provide strategic leadership in developing policies, strategies, and actions that support the Ministry's surgical commitments.
- Lead research and policy development aligned with Ministry health and business plan priorities.
- Manage policy and legislative reviews related to surgical priorities.
- Support communication strategies for major announcements regarding surgery wait times and access.
- Coordinate proactive and comprehensive issues management processes.
- Collaborate with partners on provincial wait times, treatment improvements, and planning initiatives.
