**Job Summary**

The Manager, Delivery Modernization is responsible for delivering strategic core systems modernization initiatives and contributing to the evolution of our digital landscape, ensuring that modernization objectives and requirements are met. The role organizes the architecture and engineering activities of product portfolio delivery using Scaled Agile Frameworks (SAFe) and scrum planning as well as ensures functional soundness and reliability of complex distributed systems. The incumbent plays a crucial role in leading various aspects of the projects, including resource allocation, risk management, stakeholder communication, and quality assurance.

**Main Responsibilities**
- Develop the team to be self-organizing, cross-skilled, and high-performing
- Remove impediments blocking the team’s progress
- Facilitate stakeholder collaboration as requested or needed
- Support release planning and identifying impacts to the plan
- Facilitate Program Level Planning across multiple teams
- Escalate, track, and resolve impediments and report status at the program level
- Ensure strategy and execution alignment
- Help handle risks and dependencies
- Handle team or product budget, including forecasting, budgetary allocation and securing funding for projects
- Support estimating and cost tracking activities
- Assess impact of product changes to budget and schedules from evolving scope
- Facilitate stakeholder collaboration as requested or needed
- Ensure financial objectives are reached and tracked (Operational Expenses (OpEx) and Capital Expenses (CapEx))
- Handle the performance of staff augmentation partners and direct reports to ensure timely staffing of top talent resources
- Translate business requirements into project delivery plans
- Create agile delivery Product-Oriented Deliveries (PODs) with properly skilled people
- Drive project execution and quality with regular reviews.
- Ensure knowledge is preserved through training and transfer

Working Conditions

The role has standard working conditions in an office environment with a regular workweek from Monday to Friday and is eligible to participate in CN hybrid work police. The role requires mínimal travel (10%) within Canada and the United States (U.S.). Due to the nature of the role, the incumbent must be able to meet tight deadlines, handle pressure, and stress.

**Requirements**:
Experience

Software Engineering and Project Management
- Minimum 10 years of experience in software engineering and Information and Technology (I&T) project management
- Minimum 3 years of experience leading the delivery of major I&T products
- Experience engineering and delivering enterprise grade products with high Service Level Objectives (SLO)
- Experience leading practices and teams
- Experience with program management and Agile delivery
- Experience handling all phases of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)

Education/Certification/Designation
- Bachelor’s Degree in a Technology-related field or equivalent experience

- Knowledge of Systems Integration*
- Knowledge of Development Operations (DevOps)*
- Knowledge of SAFe methodology*
- Any knowledge for any of the above would be considered as an asset

Decision Making & Impacts

The Manager, Delivery Modernization is accountable for advancing the delivery of CN's modernization project which involves timeline and budget constraints. The role collaborates with direct supervisors and executives to assure alignment with the overall plan and budget of the initiative. The position can proactively and efficiently escalate the approach with clients, vendors, and Information and Technology (I&T) executives.
