Grossing Assistant

**OVERVIEW**

Under the supervison of Pathology Assistants (PA), performs gross examinations of limited surgical pathology specimens under the directive of a Pathologist.

**EDUCATION**
- Bachelor degree in Science, preferably with Anatomy and Medical Terminology as course content, required.
- Advanced anatomy and two years experience in anatomical/surgical pathology, an asset.
- Working towards simple dissection certification with Canadian Certification Council of Pathologists’ Assistants (CCCPA), an asset.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Education in anatomy, with recent experience, required.
- Knowledge of biopsy processing and simple gross dissection
- Knowledge of human anatomy and gross pathology in normal and disease states, required.
- Knowledge of medical and technical terminology
- Experience with an LIS and transcription system
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
- Demonstrated team player
- Demonstrated accountability to complete expected workload
- Ability to prioritize workload
- Good work and attendance record required.
