This Controller position is a **new role **to join our Head Office - Collision Centres Accounting team at the AutoCanada headquarters in Edmonton (Yes, we’re growing).
- You will play a pivotal role by participating actively in both the financial and operational functions of the Collision Centres.
- You will act as part of the Senior Management team, responsible for participating in the development and execution of the Collision Centre strategy while providing the necessary support to Collision Centre personnel.

- You will report directly to the Chief Controller and will oversee a team of Senior Accountants and Junior Accountants.

**Your Key Responsibilities**
- Manage accounting operations including review of journal entries, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable and statutory reports.
- Ensure accounting functions are reconciled monthly, including but not limited to cash transactions, accounts receivable, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, accounts payable, payroll administration and intercompany accounts.
- Review Collision Centre financial statements and related reports, as well as quarterly filings to ensure consistency and compliance with policies and procedures.
- Monitor and review actual Collision Centre results against budget to ensure any issues are identified and corrected in a timely manner.
- Regularly communicate to stakeholders the status of budgets; identify risks and bring ideas to generate profits or control expenses.
- Assist in the development of annual strategic planning and ongoing monitoring of the strategic plan to ensure targets are met.
- Monitor and identify key revenue-generating opportunities for Collision Centres on a monthly basis and communicate these data-driven opportunities to Collision Center management.
- Work closely with the Chief Controller, the Regional Controllers, and the managers of the Collision Centres to ensure that all financial and accounting needs are met and that a relevant analysis is carried out.
- Ensure alignment with the global team including Marketing, Fixed Ops and Human Resources.
- Ensure accounting departments of all Collision Centres comply with Head Office policies, controls and reporting deadlines, including monthly reconciliations, monthly and quarterly reporting.
- Assist with the various functions of the finance team for all working capital and liquidity management (cash flow) issues; follow up on any audit issues requiring attention (Financial Reporting).
- Regularly review processes and systems to ensure peak efficiency and effectiveness is achieved. Celebrate team successes and foster a positive culture of excellence.
- Coach, mentor, lead, and train accounting staff.

**Your Capabilities and Credentials**

**_ Absolute Musts_**:

- Bachelor of Commerce or Masters in Accounting from a recognized post-secondary institution.
- Designation of Chartered Professional Accountant.
- Minimum of five years of relevant professional experience.
- Previous experience in an accounting control role.
- Previous experience building and mentoring a strong team.
- Comprehensive knowledge of accounting theories, concepts and practices and ability to navigate complex, difficult or unprecedented situations.
- Thorough understanding of accounting standards (IFRS) and operational accounting.
- Strong sense of diplomacy, including negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact with leaders and other decision makers and gain their support.
