London Waldorf School is seeking applicants for the position of **EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANT** for the 2024-2025 school year.

The Educational Assistant position supports the full inclusion of all individuals within the life of the school. It includes one-on-one support for children with exceptionalities to participate in the Grade School program. Specific hours would be scheduled between 9:45 am and 3:35 pm five days a week. The goal is to support independence, inclusion, and well-being in the physical, emotional, social, and cognitive realms. Good communication skills and collaboration with the class teachers as well as the Learning Resource Teacher are essential for this job.

**DETAILS**:
This is a part-time position on a ten-month contract from September 2024 - June 2025.
- The hourly wage for this position is $20.19 plus 5% vacation pay.
- This position will have access to sick days, personal days, and personnel leaves, and will be paid for statutory holidays.
- PD days, Winter Break, and March Breaks are unpaid (2 weeks each).

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- To support students’ independence, inclusion, social-emotional, and cognitive well-being
- To assist the teacher and/or resource staff in the planning, development and implementation of students’ Education Plans (E.P.).
- To deliver interventions or strategies as set out in the E.P.
- To supervise and assist individuals or groups of students during classroom activities.
- To assist students with personal and medical care which may include administration of medication, feeding, dressing, and toileting.
- To work as an active member of the school team to ensure the safety and success of all students.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- A Post-Secondary Diploma in Early Childhood Education or a University Bachelor degree and at least two years of teaching experience, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Must be able to physically assist children as required (i.e. lifting, bending, crouching, reaching, running, etc.)
- Energetic, quick thinking and adaptable to be able to support children through a variety of activities.
- Standard First Aid CPR-C.
- Previous experience in a Waldorf/Steiner school or knowledge of Waldorf education is an asset.
- Previous experience working with children is crucial.
- Previous experience with American Sign Language (ASL) is an asset.
- Experience working with children with exceptionalities is an asset.
- Qualities that will be helpful in doing this job: creativity, flexibility, initiative.
- Being willing and able to work as part of a team is imperative.
