**About Quest**

Quest Outreach Society exists to disrupt the cycle of poverty through access to healthy and affordable food. By bridging the gap between food banks and traditional grocery stores, Quest provides a grocery experience based on principles of dignity, access, and sustainability. Quest believes in a grocery model that simultaneously supports community while reducing greenhouse gas emissions. A leader in redistribution, we work to actively redirect healthy, good food that would otherwise end up in the landfill and contribute to greenhouse gas emissions. Almost all of Quest’s food is donated by local food partners from across British Columbia and delivered across our five Lower Mainland markets at reduced cost to our client communities. Quest’s five grocery markets are located in Burnaby, Surrey, North Vancouver, East Vancouver, and the Downtown Eastside.

**Key Responsibilities**:
Reporting directly to the Repack Associate, the Repack Clerk ensures our markets are getting repackaged food daily.

The Repack Clerk will be responsible for the execution and performance of the Quest Repack Program including:
**Repack Operations & Performance**:

- Repackage pre-identified foods and products in conjunction with the Distribution Centre (DC)
- Make recommendations regarding physical packaging and to-go-containers
- Maintain controls on vendor lot coding to Quest batch coding

**Volunteer Coordination**:

- Assist volunteer groups through the repacking process including freezer, cooler and dry environments
- Oversee volunteers within the repack process

**Quality Control**:

- Stay up-to-date on knowledge about food safety and legislated standards including sanitation and Canadian Food Inspection Guidelines
- Monitor and ensure all repackaged products are stored properly and within Canadian Food Safety Guidelines before distribution to the markets
- Ensure Quest Safety and Sanitation Plan is followed
- Assist and ensure food is inspected, repackaged and distributed to all markets
- Monitor Best-Before-Dates before repackaging product

**Other Tasks/Assignments**:

- Participate in training and workshop opportunities as required and directed by Quest Senior Management
- Willing to undertake special projects as required

**Required Skills and Experience**:

- Current Food Safe Level 1 certification
- Strong communication and writing skills
- Comfort working with Microsoft suite of tools
- Understanding of Quest’s grocery model
- A team player with excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and tight timelines
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift objects up to 25 lbs.

**Nice-to-Have-But-Not-Required**
- Volunteer Experience
- Familiarity with the food sector and grocery sector
- Working knowledge of CFIA labelling requirements for “best before” and “expiry dates” and nutrition labeling
- Passion and/or familiarity with issues related to food security, food justice, and food economies

**Compensation & Commitment**

This is a part-time position with Quest and is based at Quest’s Distribution Centre located at 2020 Dundas Street in Vancouver, BC.

The hourly wage is $19.00/hour.
