**POSITION**: Human Resources/General Administration
Assistant - SUMMER STUDENT

**REPORTS TO**: Human Resources Group Leader

**Area of Accountability**:Provides support to the Team Member Relations department; maintain company records, assisting in recruiting activities, and assist in general administrative duties.

**Major Responsibilities**:
1. Conduct reception duties through answering phone, transferring calls and taking messages.

3. Prep for new hire orientations and assist in training when required.

4. Verify accuracy of employee deductions (enhanced benefits, LTD, pension).

5. Prepare work verification letters as required.

6. Track immigration requirements.

7. Organize and prepare locker assignments.

8. Issue FOB and lockout locks to team members as necessary

9. Respond to employee’s queries and resolve issues in a timely manner

10. Address any employment relation issues, such as work complaints as required.

11. Sets up and maintains Team Member Relations electronic and paper files.

12. Monitor employee attendance and issue corrective actions when required.

13. Update employee information in HRIS system when required (update personal details, input corrective actions and performance reviews, etc).

14. Coordinate and take minutes at employee meetings including roundtables as required

15. Open daily mail and distributes to appropriate TMs.

16. Assist specialists in duties as assigned.

17. Recruiting

Assist in some facets of the recruiting process including:

- Contacting temporary agencies and setting up manpower
- Screening incoming resumes and maintaining records
- Contacting references of applicants and recording details

22. Demonstrate an understanding of the EPRP (Emergency Preparedness Response Plan).

**Minimum Qualifications**:

- Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Human Resource experience considered as asset.
- Completion of post-secondary school in an HR or business-related program
- Strong communication skills including written and verbal.
- Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Excel, Word and Access
- Sound judgment in decision making and establishing priorities.
- Proactive and oriented to make improvements in systems and procedures.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and teamwork.
