We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Assistant Sommelier to join our Michelin Recommended Italian restaurant. As an Assistant Sommelier, you will play a vital role in creating a memorable dining experience for our guests by curating an exceptional wine selection and providing expert guidance in pairing wines with our authentic Italian cuisine. **Responsibilities**:

- Assist the Head Sommelier in managing the restaurant's wine program, including wine selection, ordering, inventory management, and rotation.
- Provide expert advice and recommendations to guests on wine selections, considering their preferences, budget, and food choices.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive knowledge of Italian wines, regions, varietals, vintages, and emerging trends in the wine industry.
- Collaborate with the culinary team to create wine pairing suggestions that enhance the experience of our Italian dishes.
- Conduct wine tastings and educational sessions for staff members to enhance their understanding of wines and assist them in providing excellent service.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, attending wine events, seminars, and tastings to expand your knowledge and expertise.
- Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor while interacting with guests, ensuring their satisfaction and building lasting relationships.

**Qualifications**:

- 2+ years of experience in a similar role in a fine dining restaurant or wine bar setting.
- Extensive knowledge of Italian wines, regions, varietals, and wine production techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to confidently engage and educate guests about wines.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask and work under pressure.
- Detail-oriented with a passion for providing exceptional service.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and take direction from the Head Sommelier.
- Certification from a recognized sommelier program (e.g., WSET, Court of Master Sommeliers) is preferred but not mandatory.
- Proficiency in wine service techniques, including decanting, wine opening, and glassware presentation.
- Fluency in English is required
