**Job Posting**

Captain.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**The Deckhand shall**:

- Conduct duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Ferry Operations Manual and the published ferry schedule
- Maintain upper deck cleanliness, shovel snow from ferry upper decks and spread urea as required to maintain safe conditions for passengers and crew
- Assist Ferry Crew members as directed by the Captain
- Operate ferry ramps to facilitate the safe embarkation and disembarkation of passengers
- Perform duties in accordance with the Muster List for each ferry
- Perform duties in accordance with the Ferry Security Plan for each ferry
- Reports any irregularities to the Captain and the Supervisors, Ferry Operations
- When assigned Deck Force, assist with planned and corrective maintenance activities at the Woodside maintenance facility; in particular: Paint ferry vessel interior and exterior surfaces and conduct minor repairs
- Other duties as assigned by the Supervisors, Ferry Operations

**QUALIFICATIONS**

**Education and Experience**:

- Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent
- Ability to communicate in English (oral and written)

**Technical / Job Specific Knowledge and Abilities**:
**Required Certificates Recognized by Transport Canada**:

- Current Marine Medical
- MED With Respect To STCW Basic Safety
- Proficiency in Survival Craft Other Than Fast Rescue Craft
- Valid First Aid
- Six months sea service would be considered an asset

**Certificates Considered an Asset**:

- Passenger Safety Management Certificate

**CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT**: Security Screening is required

**WORK STATUS**: Permanent, Full Time

**HOURS OF WORK**: 40 hours per week. Some overtime may be required.

**SALARY**: As per ATU Local 508 Collective Agreement, $58,433.
