**Maintenance Technician - Job Description**

This person is a detail-oriented, dependable member of the OSI team. The technician’s responsibilities include:
Monitoring and servicing systems, diagnosing problems and troubleshooting equipment, running tests and completing reports, updating and improving existing systems, and repairing or replacing faulty equipment. You should collaborate with other professionals and be able to make useful recommendations wherever possible.

A successful technician should demonstrate strong self-discipline and a passion for technology. Outstanding technicians possess sound knowledge of their trade and superb active listening skills.

**Technician Responsibilities**
- Inspecting, analyzing and troubleshooting systems and equipment
- Reading repair manuals and liaising with other professionals
- Running tests and interpreting results to make effective recommendation
- Writing up reports and preventive maintenance plans
- Sourcing replacements parts
- Communicating with suppliers and clients
- Repairing faulty equipment
- Fabricating any components required
- Providing time and material cost estimates before starting a job
- Keeping abreast of advancements in your field attending workshops as required

**Applicant Requirements**:
This person has to be able to work outdoors in all weather. This job can be physical demanding and includes bending, lifting, digging and use of power tools.

Must have valid driver’s license and clean driving abstract.

Grade 12 or equivalent education.

Must be able to use Microsoft Word to create, edit and format reports.

Additional training in plumbing, electrical, water or wastewater is a strong asset.
