The District of Thunder Bay Social Services Administration Board (TBDSSAB) is the service system manager for Child Care and Early Years Programs, Community Housing and Homelessness Prevention Initiatives, and manages the delivery of Ontario Works for the District of Thunder Bay. TBDSSAB's vision is to provide quality services within the context of a commitment to social justice and recognition of people’s potential to achieve self-sufficiency.

Under the direction of the Manager, Intake and Eligibility, the Supervisor, Intake and Eligibility supervises staff in the delivery of services and programs to ensure that they are delivered in a responsible and cost-effective manner in accordance with established policies and procedures.

**MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES**:
1. Coordinate activities and train and direct section staff in the intake area including physical and telephone reception, eligibility, and other support services.

2. Identify and communicate staffing needs and participate in recruitment as required.

3. Supervise assigned staff including performance management activities.

4. Monitor and assess quality and timeliness of service delivery and report as required.

5. Ensure consistent quality and timeliness of service and make recommendations to the Manager, Intake and Eligibility concerning operating procedures and standard practices.

6. Address and resolve staff member concerns or issues and escalate to Manager when required.

7. Research, develop and compile statistical reports as required.

8. Liaise with community professionals and outside agencies regarding delivery of programs and services.

9. Perform other related duties as assigned.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education/Experience**
- Degree or diploma in business administration, Social Work, or related discipline together with a minimum of three years of experience in the human services field.
- Supervisory experience preferably in a unionized environment.

**Skills/Abilities**
- Strong knowledge of acts, regulations, policies, and programs related to a variety of municipal, provincial, and federal social assistance programs and ability to interpret related acts, regulations, and policies.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with subordinates, co-workers, and the public.
- Strong leadership skills together with the ability to motivate staff.
- Superior problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency with office computer equipment and MS Office software.
- Must be competent within the meaning of the Occupational Health & Safety Act.

**CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT**:

- The use of a vehicle may be required.
- Must undergo a successful police records check, Type 2.
