Transport Planner

Custan Food Group is a specialty food importer and distributor. We are a fast-paced distributor servicing the retail market with specialty foods from around the world. Our goal is to bring the best products to our customers in the most efficient and timely manner.
As a transport route planner, you will be responsible for ensuring that routes are planned in the most efficient way possible. You will work closely with the warehouse and driver team to deliver exceptional service to our customers. You will report directly to the VP of Operations.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Create daily routes for each vehicle. Keeping in touch with the drivers throughout the day and assisting with any challenges.
- Coordinate between sales, warehouse, purchasing, and drivers
- Cost effective routing of vehicles to maximise fuel/mileage efficiency and minimise overtime
- Ensuring that maximum workloads distributed to each driver can be completed safely and to with in the ministry requirements.
- Full compliance with company policies, standards and MTO regulations. Reference MTO regulations and health and safety regulations.
- Monitor and maintain driver safety records
- Manage and liaise with maintenance. Ensuring compliance with inspection requirements and regular maintenance.
- Receiving and put away in the warehouse
- Assisting the warehouse with additional duties, including, but not limited to:
- Picking and packing orders
**Qualifications**:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in fleet and transportation services
- Knowledge of MTO regulations
- Good understanding of Ontario geography and locations
- Ambitious, hardworking, driven, and self-motivated with a desire to learn and succeed
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Highly proficient computer skills
- Experience using ERP systems, routing software, GPS etc.
- Ability to thrive under pressure
- Attention to detail
- Forklift certified an asset
**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
**Salary**: $20.00-$23.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
