**Position Summary**:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated In-Home Support Specialist ( big sister) to provide structured, empathetic, and therapeutic assistance to a teenage girl struggling with severe agoraphobia, high anxiety, and panic attacks. This role requires an individual with experience working with teens, mental health challenges, and a calm, patient demeanor. The primary goal is to help the teenager feel safe and supported in her home environment, assist with schoolwork, and gradually break the cycle of her anxiety and agoraphobia.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Provide Emotional and Therapeutic Support**:

- Build a strong rapport with the teenager, offering emotional support, encouragement, and comfort during moments of anxiety or panic.
- Utilize calming techniques and coping strategies to help manage anxiety and panic attacks.
- Encourage gradual exposure to outside activities in a safe and supportive manner, aiming to build comfort and confidence in leaving the home.
- **Assist with Schoolwork**:

- Collaborate with the teenager and her caregivers to understand her academic needs and assist with homework, projects, and online learning.
- Create a structured and predictable routine to help her stay on track with her education.
- Offer emotional support during stressful academic moments, promoting a positive attitude toward learning.
- **Anxiety Management**:

- Support the development of personalized anxiety management techniques, such as mindfulness, breathing exercises, grounding exercises, and self-soothing methods.
- Collaborate with the teenager to explore her specific triggers and build strategies for coping with anxiety and panic in a safe space.
- **Promote Gradual Exposure to the Outside World**:

- Work with the teenager to gently explore and address her fear of leaving the house, initially starting with small steps and goals.
- Offer consistent and compassionate encouragement during exposure tasks, aiming to gradually reduce anxiety surrounding public spaces or new environments.
- **Create a Safe, Supportive Environment**:

- Foster a calm, patient, and non-judgmental atmosphere where the teenager feels heard, understood, and supported.
- Ensure that all activities and goals are customized to her comfort levels and progress at a pace that feels manageable.
- Coordinate with family members to ensure consistent, reinforcing strategies are being used throughout the week.

**Qualifications**:

- Experience in mental health support, especially with anxiety, agoraphobia, or related conditions.
- Background in education, counseling, psychology, social work, or similar fields preferred. But not limited to. Personal experience working with friends or family members is possibly acceptable
- Demonstrated ability to work with teenagers, particularly those with mental health challenges.
- Patience, empathy, Leadership and strong communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in stressful situations, offering clear and gentle guidance.
- Strong problem-solving skills and flexibility to adjust plans based on the teenager's emotional state and needs.
- Comfort with using creative techniques to keep the teen engaged in therapeutic activities.

**Desirable Skills**:

- Familiarity with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure Therapy, or other therapeutic approaches for anxiety management.
- Experience working in a home-based, one-on-one setting.
- Ability to collaborate with caregivers and mental health professionals to create and adapt a treatment plan.

**Additional Information**:

- The position requires a flexible schedule with up to 30 hours per week. The hours may vary depending on the teenager’s needs and progress, but will typically be during weekday afternoons or evenings.
- A background check will be required for all applicants.
- This role may include some light physical activity, such as accompanying the teenager on short walks or assisting with mild physical exercises to reduce anxiety.
