**About Us**:
The Benefit Programs Division of the Department of Health and Wellness provides evidence-based research, policy analysis, strategic planning, program design, monitoring, and evaluation to support the provision of drug, dental, optometry, prosthetic and other non-drug insured government programs and services. We develop legislation, provincial policy, standards, and guidelines that are responsive to the changing health needs of Nova Scotians and aligned with the overall strategic vision and mission of the Department.

**About Our Opportunity**:
Working within a dynamic team environment our Manager of Extended Health Benefits is responsible for overseeing publicly funded Extended Health Benefit programs (e.g., optometric program, dental programs, prostheses programs, insulin pump program, and the Boarding Transportation and Ostomy program) and other assigned duties.

**Primary Accountabilities**:
Within this role, you will have the opportunity to coordinate and lead all work related to extended health benefits programs which includes:

- strategic planning, leadership, and oversight of programs
- negotiation, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of agreements for the delivery and administration of extended health benefits
- developing and interpreting policy
- developing and maintaining positive stakeholder relationships

You will collaborate closely with colleagues across the Department and with other internal and external stakeholders.

**Qualifications and Experience**:
To be considered for this role, you will have a Bachelor’s degree a related field (e.g., Health, Law, Business Administration) with eight (8) years of relevant experience; or a related Master’s degree plus six (6) years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered acceptable.

In addition to the above, you are required to be an effective written and spoken communicator, be comfortable working in a team environment, be comfortable leading discussions with internal and external stakeholders and partners, and be competent in Microsoft Office products, including Excel.

We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.
