We've got what you're looking for.Job Description:Parsons and our JV Partner, Colas, are hiring Environmental Monitors for work on our Edmonton Valley Line West light rail project.The Edmonton Valley Line West LRT project is a 14-km long line extension of the soon to be in service Valley Line in downtown Edmonton, Alberta.The scope of work generally includes complex staging; new facilities such as stations, OMSF, storage facility, and stops; elevated guideway; new structures; systems and communications installation; trackwork; testing and commissioning; and all other civil works associated with the scope.It is the first LRT extension project using low-floor vehicle technology in Western Canada and will be a landmark LRT endeavour after the 5-year construction term.The unique project challenges, such as cold weather climate and integration with an in-service LRT line, offers team members future career opportunities in the robust transit portfolio of the City of Edmonton and other similar programs across Canada.Responsibilities include:implementing the Project Environmental Management System (EMS) and Environmental Plansdeveloping and implementing environmental monitoring and inspection programs to ensure compliance with EMS, Environmental Plans, and other Project Environmental Obligationsmaintaining the EMS and Environmental Plansdeveloping and maintaining various environmental Registers required for the Projectmonitoring and maintaining updates for amendments to applicable Laws or Environmental Permits; the ISO 14001 standard for environmental management systems; and new policies or standards implemented by the City of Edmonton with respect to environmental protectionimplementing the environmental auditing programensuring that the results of all monitoring, inspection and audits are reported as requiredstopping Project Work if any environmental monitoring, inspection or audit indicates that the Project Work does not comply with the Project Environmental Obligationsdeveloping and implementing environmental processes and procedures to ensure compliance of Project activities with the Project Environmental Obligationscritically assessing environmental conditions in the field to evaluate potential environmental impacts from constructionevaluating potential environmental issues and concerns ahead of construction activitiesrecommending best practices and mitigation measures to manage environmental concerns during constructionresolving environmental non-conformances and non-compliancescompiling and analyzing environmental data for report inputpreparing daily and weekly inspection reportsattending various project meetings as requiredconducting environmental risk assessmentspreparing environmental training materials and conducting environmental trainingparticipating in various construction meetings (e.g., kick-off, toolbox, tailgate)communicating and coordinating with Construction personnel and contractors on a regular basisresponding to and investigating environmental incidentsconducting environmental samplingmaintaining environmental equipment as requiredperforming work outdoors in all types of weather, and in an office as requiredperforming other duties associated with this position as may be requiredMinimum qualifications:B.Sc. or technical diploma in biology, forestry, agriculture, environmental science, or related similar disciplineregistered or eligible to
