**Job Summary**
The _Manager, Bulk Distribution Services _is a critical role in the Supply Chain function that has responsibility for the protection of Morton Salt, Inc. assets, delivery of critical service requirements, execution of operational activity and the management of significant Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s). The jobholder is the primary point of contact for all disciplines within the Morton Salt, Inc. Supply Chain when it comes to Stockpile and Logistics operations. The jobholder reports directly to the Morton Salt Director, Supply Chain
- Highway & Chemical, and will work closely with Sales & Marketing, Marine Distribution, Supply Planning, and Logistics Execution. This jobholder will represent the company when it comes to activities between Morton Salt and its North American Bulk Stockpile and Logistics Partners. The jobholder has strategic and daily functional activities that are critical to operations and customer service execution.
**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Ensure safe, secure, and protected storage, proper care and maintenance of the storage facilities, routine site inspections, inventory reconciliations, attend to all environmental stockpile requirements for all owned or leased by Morton Salt.
- Responsible for the delivery of the approved Morton Salt, Inc. budget for Bulk Distribution and Logistics Services.
- Responsible for monitoring/reporting transactional and contractual expenses and development of costing data.
- Ensure all stockpiles are compliant and follow with the environmental permitting, stormwater management, sampling, site inspections, reporting and any other requirements outlined within the permit, regulations, etc.
- Oversee Montreal stockpile(s) operations and its Windsor Salt employees.
- Responsible to maintain and identify terminal capital improvements for lease or owned stockpiles. The job holder will be responsible to scope site or equipment improvements needed, conduct the bidding, and manage the capital project from start up to completion.
- Identify and analyze new stockpile or logistics opportunities.
- Continuously perform optimization analysis to determine cost efficient sourcing and lowest cost, utilizing capacity/performance history and customer delivery requirements.
- Monitor daily open orders, inventory levels, shipment error corrections, route guides and manually dispatch carriers at a site or group of sites as needed.
- The jobholder is responsible for all issues, special handling, activity coordination, performance monitoring and project management for bulk distribution services.
- Coordinate solutions to daily transportation and operational issues with carries and handlers, working with internal and external personnel to ensure seamless on-time deliveries, while exceeding customer expectations and KPI’s/performance metrics.
- Ensure Transportation requirements are met by validating the carriers’ capabilities to deliver in accordance with agreed-upon capacity and customer delivery requirements.
- Obtain signed copies of Bills of Lading for Proof of Delivery Inquiries.
- Provide information for freight invoice discrepancies and freight claim issues.
- Ensure that all stockpiles are operating in accordance with Morton Salt Inc. Stockpile Operations Manual.
- Ensure operational documents and control procedures are in place and current.
- Responsible for Stockpile Management, carrier and stockpile capacity planning, systems, treated salt blending, rate and contract negotiations, preparation & execution of agreements, service levels and performance reporting.
- Lead negotiations with vendors to obtain competitive rates, mitigate price increases and ensure they are qualified to meet Morton’s and our customer’s requirements.
- Responsible for the collection of monthly 3PL metric data and the evaluation of performance against KPI’s.
- Facilitates Annual Business Reviews with all 3PL partners.
- Responsible for continuous improvement between Morton Salt, Inc. and bulk stockpiles in costs and service with the intent of accurately streamlining communications and driving best practices, building strong strategic relationships with current and potential partners.
