**Wellness and Ability Coordinator, Human Resources and Organizational Development**:
**Required Position**:
Full-Time Appointment

**Responsibilities**:
Reporting to the Director, Service Excellence, the Wellness and Ability Coordinator is responsible for the development, coordination and administration of the Laurentian University’s disability and sick leave programs by providing comprehensive, progressive, and supportive case administration for short-term sick leave, long-term disability and workplace accommodations. The Wellness and Ability Coordinator will also develop and coordinate the delivery of programs and offers related to the health and wellbeing of employees.
- Develop, coordinate and maintain comprehensive ability and wellness management programs across various employee groups and in support of the University's strategic goals;
- Develop, engage and communicate policies and processes related to wellness and ability management;
- Coordinate case management and planning for faculty and staff, who are either absent from work or absent from a habitual or regular basis for short periods of time, due to illness, injury or reduced work capacity;
- Maintain detailed records including action on claims and ensure strict confidentiality of medical and sensitive personal information while focusing planning around the impact of the employee’s medical status on functional abilities and possible accommodation needs;
- Communicate with medical and other health care professionals to ensure accurate, timely, and complete information support sick leave claims and planning for return to work and/or accommodation;
- Work in partnership with all relevant parties to coordinate a team approach which reflects program principles, meet legislative requirements, and focuses on the needs of the employee while also taking into account the operations of the work unit;
- Facilitate early and safe return to work through a coordinated effort with the relevant workplace parties;
- Operates within the parameters of legislation, collective agreements, external and internal policies and procedures, provide advice to internal HR personnel, management, employees, and union representatives regarding claims administration, return to work, and accommodation;
- Educate the supervisory staff and employees about the factors that support successful return to work and adaptation the work environment;
- In consultation with Occupational Health, HR, and business managers develop and recommend strategies for many employees who are experiencing frequent or patterned absences in compliance with legislative and contractual obligations;
- Promote liaise the Employee Family and Assistance Program (EFAP) and ; monitor its utilization and recommend opportunities maximizing its value across the University;
- Collaborate with the EFAP provider to deliver staff/faculty well-being seminars to develop communication strategies to increase awareness;
- Contribute to the development and execution of a wellness strategy aligned with the organization's values and goal
- Continuously assess the needs and preferences of employees to refine and adapt wellness programs accordingly;
