**JIG AND TOOLMAKER**

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Plan, lay out and construct tooling jigs and fixtures according to engineering drawings.
- Repair and maintain jigs and fixtures as required.
- Provide input/ideas to Engineering Department on tooling design/ fabrication alternatives for unique or difficult jobs.
- Expected to troubleshoot and make changes to the tools to adhere to customer requirements.
- Recommend changes to continuously improve tooling and processes.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Interprovincial journeyman designation as a Toolmaker, or Machinist with proven Toolmaker experience is preferred.
- Minimum 3-5 years of hands-on manufacturing experience in a Tool Shop, preferably in the aerospace industry or other complex manufacturing industries.
- Demonstrated knowledge of machine shop practices, principles of mechanics, machine tool operations, advanced shop mathematics, use of precision measuring instruments, and working quality of materials.
- Ability to assemble jigs and fixtures using hand tools.
- Ability and competence to work directly from complex drawings and blueprints with tight tolerances.
- Experienced and competent with machining operations using manual mills and lathes.
- A sense of urgency in executing tasks, as well as the ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to nurture a positive team environment in a union environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Working knowledge of computer aided design systems would be an asset
- Forklift and crane experience an asset.
- Must be Covid-19 vaccinated.

**Working Conditions**
- Must be able to work shifts, including mornings, afternoons.
