Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto’s subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster, and easier. Our Capital Projects Group (CPG) Program Management Office is looking for a CO-OP Student to assist with report preparation, data analysis, documentation and project coordination within the CPG Governance and Business Performance team. The CO-OP Student will work with internal stakeholders to provide program and project management support in the completion of required tasks and deliverables associated with reporting and initiatives to improve the way CPG does business.
**What will I be doing?**
- Provides a variety of administrative support to the business which may include: assisting with the facilitation of workshops, developing and managing data spreadsheets, mapping and evaluating processes
- Work with internal stakeholders to collect data, document processes, generate Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)/ performance metrics, and other business performance reports.
- Provide assistance and support to staff in a variety of areas, including gathering, inputting, organizing, and interpreting data for reports/presentations/meetings/projects.
- Develop and maintain spreadsheets, forms, and databases to input, track, store and retrieve data.
- Help produce recurring capital project performance documentation and data-based reports, as assigned.
- Assist meeting preparation, coordinate, attend, and take minutes for recurring technical meetings and workshops.
- Help in document management: maintain and update files and folders within the team’s SharePoint sites.
- Recommends and implement improvements to existing processes and procedures to achieve greater efficiency.
- Perform technical/professional/administrative duties as needed.
**What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?**
- Must be attending school full-time and returning to an academic institution
- Must be at least 15 years of age before starting employment
- Enrolled in Engineering, Business Administration, Planning or Public Policy at a post-secondary institution
- Interest in rail/public transportation, data analysis and/or project management
- A willingness to learn while being exposed to all aspects of capital project controls and functions
- Previous experience working within a business environment is preferred
- Strong written, oral communication and interpersonal skills are required
- Competence in software such as Microsoft Office
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Ability to co-operate and assist other co-workers with various projects
