**Environmental Services Manager**
**Glen Hill Strathaven is a 158 long-term care home in Bowmanville, ON; owned and operated by Durham Christian Homes.**
**Position Summary**
The Environmental Services Manager (ESM) is accountable to the Administrator for the overall management of the housekeeping, laundry and maintenance departments. Through effective management of allocated resources and development of a strong team, the ESM will ensure the delivery of optimal care and service, based on legislative requirements and Glen Hill Terrace Christian Homes' standards.
The ESM is required to perform their duties in a manner consistent with the core values and employee guiding principles, ensure resident safety, and demonstrate customer service excellence.
**Primary Duties & Responsibilities Include**:
Plans, co-ordinates, directs and monitors the effectiveness of all operational activities within the housekeeping, laundry and maintenance departments;
- Develops and sustains operational plans for the effective operation of each department;
- Develops and sustains safety systems to ensure optimal resident care;
- Delegates responsibility to staff based on clearly defined lines of authority and communication;
- Establishes and maintains an effective quality and risk management system to ensure legislative regulations and standards are met;
- Conducts regular departmental rounds to ensure all safety, emergency, building and support systems are functioning properly;
- Develops specific procedures, work patterns and routines, for Home, such as: preventative maintenance checklists, receiving / delivering supplies, and the removal of garbage, laundry routines, janitorial and housekeeping routines;
- Ensures WHMIS labeling and MSDS sheets are maintained and up to date for all three departments;
- Ensures proper mechanical maintenance of equipment, and repairs to plumbing and electrical systems such as replacing electrical switches, tap washers, belts, lubricating motors, pumps, dampers and associated mechanical equipment;
- Ensures that all Fire Safety Inspections are completed and oversees scheduling, completion and follow up to all fire drills
- Knows and interprets MOLTC legislation, regulation and process
**Qualifications**:
- Relevant post
- secondary diploma from a community college;
- Knowledge of HVAC equipment, computerized building management systems, electrical systems distribution, fire alarm and sprinkler systems including operation of and testing requirements, emergency diesel generator operations etc.;
- Health and Safety Certification (level 1 and 2) preferred;
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- A minimum of 2 years management experience in Long Term Care preferred.
