**CME Ltd. West Coast Division is currently seeking an experienced Marine Electrician to join our team in Port Alberni, British Columbia. The Marine Electrician is responsible for the installation of electrical components/systems on vessels in a safe, tidy and consistent manner.**
Under limited supervision, the Marine Technician will install (including cable installation) commission and repair electrical and automation equipment onboard commercial vessels. The successful applicant will test, and troubleshoot components other related marine hardware. They will also update and modify software. Successful applicants will use their knowledge of electrical/control/electronic theory and circuitry to address a variety of technical problems. They will make intelligent use of complex schematics, blueprints, and manuals to accurately achieve assignments. They will provide technical training to customers on system installation, operation and maintenance. When not performing these duties, the Technician will be expected to work with electricians installing/troubleshooting other marine systems_._
**Qualifications and Specific Skills**:
- A diploma (red-seal) or degree from a post-secondary or poly-technical institution in electrical & automation or a combination of equivalent education, training, and/or experience would be considered an asset.
- Minimum 2-3 years industry related experience, troubleshooting complex marine or terrestrial electronic systems to a component level, preferably in an electronic sensor environment.
- Ability to read complex schematics and/or blueprints to achieve objective for assigned tasks.
- Ability to carry 40-50 lbs, comfortable working at height or in confined spaces.
- Comfortable working on board ships at sea.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weathers.
- Driver’s license with a clean driving abstract. No pending restrictions.
- Excellent written and verbal skills.
- Proficient in Windows operating system configuration and administration.
- Confined Space Entry Training.
- Working at Heights Training.
- Knowledge of Marine Specific equipment including rules and regulations of classification societies
- Experience in the installation, commissioning, repair and service of Marine Systems/other marine electrical and electronics systems.
- Knowledge of networking principles and IT skills.
- Knowledge of motor control system theory.
- Experience interfacing electronics to hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
