What to expect in the role:_**
**Job overview**
The Volunteer Recruitment & Mentorship Coordinator assists in fulfilling the strategic goals of the Distress Centre by ensuring continuous recruitment of qualified and engaged volunteers. Additionally, the role is responsible for engaging volunteers and staff mentors through participation in the Mentorship program. This position will also provide support for recruitment and selection of practicum students seeking placement at the Distress Centre.
**Primary Duties**
This is not an exhaustive list of duties but meant to give you a sense of what you’ll be doing on a regular basis. Other related duties may be required.
**Volunteer Recruitment (40%)**
- Track applicants throughout the recruitment process and keep all applicants informed of their status and outcomes.
**Mentorship Program Support & Oversight (30%)**
- Internally recruit and train mentors to participate in the program.
- Assign Mentors & Mentees to one another, with the goal of creating mutually beneficial relationships.
- Monitor & evaluate Mentorship Program activities, reporting findings to leadership.
- Using a strengths based approach, recognize and celebrate Mentors and Mentees for both small wins and milestone achievements, (creating a culture of recognition and appreciation).
**Practicum Student Recruitment & Support (20%)**
- Work with the institutions as assigned to create and maintain values aligned relationships.
- Create practicum student files and ensure that all mandatory requirements are met and documents have been received.
- Recruit practicum supervisors and assign students to supervisors.
**Administration (10%)**
- Complete outcomes reporting with attention to detail in alignment with agency needs and deadlines.
- Create and maintain individual files and filing systems for Volunteers and the Mentorship Program.
- Support cross department collaboration as related to Volunteer recruitment and engagement.
**Hours of work and conditions**
- General working hours are 9am - 5pm, however we ask for some flexibility to work the occasional evening and weekend as needed.
- This position will require shifts to be completed on-site at Distress Centre with the possibility of some remote work in the future.

What you bring to the role:_**
**Qualifications/Experience**
- Related University degree or diploma, and 2 or more years of related experience; or combination of formal education and experience.
- Experience in the not-for-profit sector is an asset.
- Knowledge of Volunteer Recruitment and engagement trends and best practices.
**Skills/Abilities**:
- Intermediate proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint.
- Strong interpersonal skills and high emotional intelligence.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently, set priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Organizational and problem solving skills with a keen attention to detail, a high degree of accuracy, and excellent time management skills.
- Ability to maintain effective, cooperative working relationships with other staff and volunteers.
- Ability to engage stakeholders both inside and outside the agency and maintain good working relationships.
- Ability to research, assimilate, organize, analyze and summarize information.
