**Position Description**:
The Patient Care Information Coordinator, GI Procedures, will be responsible for the patient scheduling process and facilitate the delivery of patient care by providing a high level of support and assistance to patient cluster staff and patient/families. They will support the operation of the team/unit by providing clerical and administrative functions in a proactive and organized manner. This role will be primarily responsible for all scheduling and coordinating activites for gastrointestinal procedural cases occuring in a variety of perioperative and procedural settings. The specfific purpose of this role is to support the triaging and scheduling of patients who will be having their procedure at a community hospital or ambulatory care centre. There will be a high reliance on using scheduling tools and tracking documents to ensure excellent oversight. The role will work closely with a physician leader and nurses from the GI Procedures and Gastrointestinal, Hepatology and Nutrition teams to identify and schedule patients. The successful indiviudal will work directly with families to schedule cases and provide pre-operative instructions. Finally, the coordinator will work closely with administrative colleagues in Perioperative Services to ensure smooth scheduling of cases. This role also provides occasional cross-coverage for the patient information clerks on 4C.

- Answer phone calls and respond to requests for information from families and healthcare staff
- Ensure related scheduling documentation is processed, organized, updated and available
- Support clinical staff in ordering consumable materials and supplies that are utilized in the unit
- Facilitate communication flow via telephone, paging, and computer access
- Reschedule appointments as necessary and inform necessary people of these changes
- Maintain appointment schedules in Epic and Microsoft Outlook and notify patients/families of any updates or changes to their appointments
- Collate clinical data and relay this information in a precise and timely manner to colleagues within and outside of the organization
- Greet and orient patients and their families to the unit
- Support the clerical staff with the registration and flow of patients within the clinic
- Maintain an efficient and tidy work environment
- Act as the liaison for external hospital contacts

**Here¿s What You¿ll Need**
- Health-related post-secondary education (Medical Administration, Business Administration, Health Administration) preferred
- Minimum of 2 years clerical or administrative experience in a health care setting. Experience in a hospital environment is preferred
- Scheduling experience is essential and medical terminology is an asset
- Accurate keyboarding skills and strong working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Experience with Epic, Cadence and OpTime, is preferred
- Experience in scheduling perioperative or procedural cases is preferred
- Excellent problem solving skills that demonstrate an ability to anticipate potential issues and make suggestions
- Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills with both fellow colleagues and patients
- Ability to remain focused and prioritize tasks in a busy and high stress environment
- Dependability and good attendance
- Demonstrated commitment and actions in advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion objectives

**Employment Type**

Full-time contract x 1 year; must be available to work Monday to Friday with flexbility in start time
