Culture Supervisor

**Summary**:
To supervise the delivery of programs, projects and services through the cultural services office of the City of St. Catharines, including management of the cultural grants program, the Civic Art Collection, the St. Catharines Arts Awards, implementation of the St. Catharines Culture Plan, and the development and delivery of related plans, marketing and communications.
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Management and execution of work required for regular program delivery including cultural grant programs (i.e. SCCIP), special events, art collection management and public art programming (exhibits, acquisitions etc.).
- Management of special projects as directed by City Council and Advisory Committees of Council including but not limited to
- public art commissions;
- research and community consultation;
- community, cultural and professional consultation as related to arts and cultural projects and issues in the community; and
- Responsible to manage work plans for two full-time staff, one student, one Committee of Council, temporary Task Forces (when applicable), additional volunteers as required in subcommittees and for special events.
- Management / oversight of all work and requirements related to the Civic Art Collection, which includes outdoor art and memorials, carousel components, indoor fine art.
- Oversight of catalogue system and files; annual condition assessments by staff; identification of suitable professionals to undertake evaluations, restoration and/or preservation work as required; repair and maintenance; community consultations and information-sharing; acquisitions, accessioning and de-accessioning; installations and removals as required.
- Develop, update and implement three plans/policies: Culture Plan 2020 (2015); Public Art Policy (2003); St. Catharines Cultural Investment Program (2016).
- Budget planning, development, and reporting; oversight and responsibility for all expenditures and revenue generation of office.
- Develop and submit rates and fees, capital requests.
**Position Requirements**
- Completion of a University Degree in Art History, Curatorial Studies, Collections Management or a related field.
- Minimum five (5) years’ work experience in a supervisory position with a cultural organization.
- Proven project management skills.
- Knowledge and experience in not-for-profit arts organizational development and management.
- Expertise in fine art, sculpture and memorials.
- Experience in municipal policy and planning.
- Research, facilitation and networking.
- Communications and marketing expertise.
- Supervisory training.
- Experience with Microsoft Office and Adobe.
- Experience with the following software:
- The Museum System (TMS)
- CMS’s (iCreate, iKnow, cNiagara)
- Constant Contact
- Citrix - Workmanager
- Vailtech (GL)
- FMW
- Taleo
- Social media experience
- Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends, evenings and holidays.
- A demonstrated commitment to developing and enhancing a safety culture.
**Salary Range**: Minimum $83,326 annually; Maximum $97,479 annually
**Expected Work Location**:101 King St (eligible for some remote work)
**Hours of Work**: 35 hours per week
