Why is this role important?
- The Manager, Human Resources develops and delivers HR programs and services in the areas of recruitment, employee relations, executive resourcing, organization design and job evaluation, talent management, succession planning and workforce planning. The Manager provides expert advice in assigned areas of HR to support the organization and ensures CIHI’s strategy and business objectives are met through up-to-date policies, programs and legislative compliance. The Manager fosters strong collaborative working relationships with other HR organizations, internal stakeholders and external vendors to ensure the effective and consistent delivery of advisory and talent acquisition services to the organization.
- What you'll do
- 1. Leads and manages employees, provides clear direction, effectively delegates and monitors performance results, motivates, coaches and develops others to create an environment that fosters high engagement, productivity and capability, leads and supports others through change, make decisions that balance the best interests of the team, the organization and its stakeholders; and leads by example by living CIHI’s core values.
- 2. Manages the development, implementation, monitoring and enhancement of assigned HR programs and respective budgets including, but not limited to: advisory support, employee relations, recruitment, workforce planning, and job evaluation/classification. Conducts research into human resources programs, activities and best practices to keep abreast of new trends. Develops and revises new and existing HR policies, practices and procedures to ensure they reflect applicable legislation and CIHI’s corporate culture.
- 3. Oversees the end-to-end talent acquisition strategy, program and operations to ensure that CIHI is attracting, hiring and retaining diverse talent.
- 4. Leads CIHI's workforce planning processes and tools to right-size staffing levels, address workforce challenges, facilitate internal mobility and support business decision-making.
- 5. Develops and maintains positive cross-functional relationships at all levels of the organization to understand business needs and deliver effective and efficient HR solutions. Provides guidance, coaching and recommendations to HR Business Partners in complex performance management and disciplinary issues. Provides employee relations advice and services, researches issues and maintains a solid knowledge of staff relations principles, guidelines, practices and legislative requirements.
- 6. Provides strategic guidance/direction on assigned HR programs and activities and works with all levels of leadership within the organization. Conducts research, prepares briefs and presentations and raises new policy matters to the attention of the Director, Human Resources.
- 7. Manages the job evaluation program and committee, provides advice to managers on the use of job evaluation questionnaires, co-ordinates final job evaluation documentation and approval with appropriate director. Chairs the job evaluation committee process and recommends changes to the Director, Human Resources.
- 8. Works closely with the Manager, Total Rewards and HR Operations with respect to total rewards, HR Operations, HR systems, pay, and compensation reporting and analysis. Contributes insight and participates in total rewards projects/initiatives as required. Provides input and works closely with the Program Consultant, Organizational Design.
