**Job Summary**:
As a member of the newly funded three-year McMaster Digital Research Commons Pilot (DRCP), the Digital Research Systems Analyst will help build a more connected, capable, and researcher-focused approach to digital research infrastructure (DRI) support at McMaster, by improving researchers’ access to the systems, services, software, and training they need to be successful in their work. By identifying opportunities to support, augment, and better promote existing services and working with the DRCP team to pilot new services in key areas of need, the Digital Research Systems Analyst makes digital services for researchers easier to find and access, while helping McMaster researchers meet their institutional, funder and other scholarly obligations.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Digital Research Commons Pilot, this position works closely with the rest of the DRCP team and several units on campus including the McMaster Libraries, the Office of the Vice-President, Research and its supporting units and offices, Faculties, Central IT and various campus IT units.

In collaboration with DRCP partners, you will:

- Engage researchers and DRI service providers to continually improve existing processes or develop new ones to support the University research community,
- Use enterprise systems, including, but not limited to SharePoint and JIRA Service Desk, working closely with various internal departments to ensure cohesion.
- Continuously understand the University’s research and IT operations and processes, how systems are utilized to support multiple operations and how these intersect.
- Understand digital research service needs, translate requirements to functional specifications for a variety of research-supporting initiatives.
- Help deliver or contribute to digital research training and workshops for researchers including faculty members, administrators, graduate students, and research support staff.
- Create informational and training materials, including web-based tools and resource pages that clarify and explain digital research concepts, practices, and resources for a variety of audiences.
- In coordination with the DRCP team, consult with researchers on digital research support needs and connect researchers to existing services and resources.
- Provide advice in support of DRI initiatives in general and domain-specific areas.
- Provide guidance and support to research offices and ethics boards on matters relating to DRI.
- Support efforts to integrate McMaster's DRI-related systems to streamline researchers' digital research activities.
- Promote and adopt best practices in DRI.

**Representative Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs.
