The Sexual Assault Support Centre (SASC) at UBC is a part of the AMS, the Student Society of UBC Vancouver. The SASC is a professional service that has been operating since 2002. SASC has been committed to providing support services to people of all genders and identities who have been impacted by sexualized violence, including their support people. The SASC approaches sexual violence prevention through education, to shift perspectives and address systemic barriers, while also providing people with tools to respond supportively to those who are impacted.
The Educator I role supports existing SASC initiatives and programs that aim to do prevention through education, and shift perspectives on sexualized violence using feminist and anti-oppressive approaches. This position will engage student and community groups through workshops, events, campaigns, and outreach to bring awareness to sexual violence as a topic and create a safer and more supportive campus culture.
This is a unionized position with CUPE 1936, Community Social Services of Greater Vancouver.
We are looking to hire 2-3 new Educators to join our team

Day-to-day as the Educator (I) will look like something like this:

- Facilitate, lead and participate in workshops and educational opportunities.
- Create, update and revise workshop content as necessary.
- Facilitate and lead outreach activities on/off campus.
- Assist with training and maintenance of the SASC volunteer program.
- Assist SASC staff with various administrative duties including newsletters, blog writing, developing outreach materials, and library maintenance.
- Assist with marketing and distribution of outreach materials.
- Attend staff meetings and supervisory meetings.
- Uphold the standards of confidentiality and respect.
- Work collaboratively with all of The SASC staff and volunteers.
- Represent The SASC with AMS, UBC and greater community.
- Develop and implement various programming and other means of community-based outreach, including the SASC annual art show, and other public awareness campaigns.
- Other duties as assigned.

**The ideal Educator (I) is someone who is**:

- Registered as a UBC student from May 2024 - June 2025
- Knowledgeable about intersectional feminist and anti-oppressive perspectives, and approaches in relation to sexualized violence.
- Skilled in workshop facilitation, public speaking, and community engagement.
- Collaborative, and has strong communication and inter-personal skills.
- Able to use Internet, E-mail and Microsoft Office programs comfortably.
- Experienced in working with diverse populations and maintaining confidentiality.
- Well organized, flexible, self-motivated and able to take initiative.
- Aware of relevant UBC and community services and resources.
- Experienced in working within an educational context. Experience within the UBC campus community is an asset.
- Experienced with online newsletter and digital platforms such as Canva, MailChimp, etc.
- Experienced with creating social media content for platforms such as Instagram, Tik Tok, and Facebook
- Experienced with feminist/anti-oppressive services. Experience with The SASC is considered an asset.
- Experienced in working collaboratively with various organizations.
