Primary Focus
Health care leaders in Canada trust Canada’s Drug Agency for evidence on prescription drugs. The Manager, Pharmaceutical Reviews, is responsible for the overall leadership and operational management of a multidisciplinary team that delivers comprehensive assessments to support timely health care decision-making for Canada’s federal, provincial (except for Quebec), and territorial health care decision-makers.
On any given day, the Manager, Pharmaceutical Reviews, will be responsible for:
Operational Accountabilities
- implementing program policies and procedures to ensure the effective, high-quality delivery of our pharmaceutical products and services
- final review and sign-off of our pharmaceutical reports for director approval before being released to the client or public

People Management
- providing management guidance, oversight, and assessment of individual Senior Pharmaceutical Review Officers and Pharmaceutical Research Assistants
- coaching, counselling, and managing employees to ensure compliance with systems, policies, and procedures
- new hire onboarding; developing employees; promoting evidence-based practices; and research, education, and training
- ensuring alignment and achievement of work priorities, determining the allocation of staff skills and resourcing of reviews based on report requirements and complexity in order to meet service delivery and scheduling time limits
- communicating job expectations, planning, monitoring, auditing, and appraising productivity and job results

Leadership
- providing operational leadership in the safe, effective, and efficient delivery of continuous improvement initiatives
- evaluating current practices and program outcomes and leading quality improvement initiatives based on work priorities, directorate strategies, and goals
- attending and/or leading relevant internal and external meetings to maintain awareness and contribute to project deliverables
- working collaboratively with other directorates and interested partners to promote our products and high-quality standards.

- a graduate degree in a health-related discipline plus experience providing leadership to a team using effective management techniques (i.e., coaching, mentoring, skill and leadership development, decision-making, coalition building, performance management)
