We are seeking an Optimizing Technican/Project Manager to lead and advance our manufacturing technology.

Our Canadian companies include East Fraser Fiber Co. Ltd. having a chip plant, finger joint mill, and logging operations in Mackenzie, BC, and a block sorting station in Quesnel, BC. Parallel Wood Products Ltd., our finger joint mill in Williams Lake, BC is also part of this group. Our US operations in Alabama include a sawmill and a finger joint mill.
- Wages are commensurate with experience: Range $40 to $60/hr.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**

Development of programming and commissioning, installing, and servicing, automated machinery to company requirements and various standards (CSA, ESA, OSHA, etc.), using Vision systems, servos, HMIs, PLCs and robots.
- Integrating Vision systems with PLCs in automated systems
- Commissioning, installing and servicing machinery
- Debugging machinery in conjunction with assemblers, programmers, and electricians
- Working safely in accordance with the OH&S program, and other policies
- Other duties as assigned

**Position Requirements: (Knowledge, Skill, Ability)**
- Ability to program and integrate Vision systems with PLCs and HMI’s
- Programming using C+, C#, VB, HTML, JavaScript, for development of Vision related algorithms and their implementation.
- Proficient with SQL, Excel, Word, etc., a strong asset.
- Pitch in as an industrial electrician at the operational level as needed
- Competency in reading, analyzing and interpretation of written and verbal communications in the English Language

Must have:

- a strong mechanical aptitude
- knowledge of digital image acquisition and methods of implementing
- ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and management
- ability to work with others in a fast-paced environment
- a valid driver’s licence and passport
- flexibility to travel for business as needed

**Autonomy and Authority**
- Work as a qualified professional without detailed supervision, within clear guidelines, defined standards and specifications, and be equally comfortable working as part of a project team.
- Generally responsible for the design and programming of complete systems or stand-alone machines
- May guide and monitor the work of junior engineers and technical staff

**Education, Experience, and Qualifications**:

- College or University degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or Red Seal Electrician with strong ability in C+/C# programming.
- Five-seven years’ experience programming Vision systems and experience with either PLCs, servos, or articulated robots in conjunction with automated machinery
- Must have a valid passport and available to travel to company sites within BC and the USA

**Special Requirements (physical demands and work environment)**:

- Physically able to work with various manufacturing machinery in standing, sitting, stooping, kneeling, and prone positions.
