**OPPORTUNITY DESCRIPTION**

We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced, and highly motivated laboratory technician at Sernova Corp.
This is a lab-based position working at the laboratories located in London, Ontario.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Work together with other laboratory technicians and managers in the Sernova laboratory
- Support internal and external communication activities through updates and reports for internal team members and research partners
- Ensure confidentiality
- Develop and maintain relationships with research partners, as required for project needs
- Maintain required attendance and adherence to work schedule in accordance with required staffing level to ensure that assigned duties are completed

**Project Responsibilities**:

- Perform laboratory tests to produce reliable and precise data to support scientific investigations
- Execute a wide range of work activities; ensure all duties and responsibilities are prioritized with supervisors and performed with accuracy and efficiency to provide quality results
- Carry out routine and general laboratory tasks accurately and following standard operating procedures (SOPs) to carry out analyses. Know-how on solution generation, concentration, and dilution calculations, pipetting large and small volumes required
- Troubleshoot procedures and assist in implementing modifications to Standard Operating

Procedures (SOPs)
- Ensure the laboratory inventory is well-stocked and resourced
- Maintain and operate standard laboratory equipment, such as centrifuges, pipettes, and pH meters;
Experience using of a variety of equipment such as autoclaves, microscopes, spectrophotometers, is preferred
- Prepare specimens and samples for _in vitro_ and cell culture-based assays utilizing sterile techniques
- **Carry out, with guidance, histological and immunological techniques including, but not**

**limited to**:

- **Specimen handling (frozen and fixed tissues) and storage requirements,**:

- **Tissue embedding**:

- **Sample sectioning with a microtome or cryostat**:

- **Immunohistochemical and immunofluorescence techniques suitable for microscopic**

**examination**:

- **Histological imaging techniques such as fluorescence microscopy and image**

**analysis**:

- **ELISA-based analysis**
- May participate in projects involved with _in vivo _work, including small and large animal models, and may include animal surgical procedures
- Keep detailed, accurate records and produce end project reports for Project/Laboratory

Managers/Research Scientists
- Prepare preliminary findings, including representation of results and images in report format
- Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work environment
- Maintain appropriate levels of disposable or consumable supplies
- Ensure biohazardous and routine garbage is handled in compliance with Standard Operating

Procedures (SOPs)
- Follow and ensure strict safety procedures and safety checks and adhere to Sernova Corp and safety policies and guidelines. Perform all tasks in compliance with Good Laboratory Practice

Regulations (GLPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs);
**EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE**
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree (science), OR technical diploma program and relevant experience equivalent, is required
