**Position Summary**:The Head Grounds Person (Riverside) for Fairmont Hot Springs Golf Management Ltd (FHSRGM) will work closely with all members of the turf care and guest services teams to provide the best experience possible to our guests. The Head Grounds Person (Riverside) will coordinate daily operations of the turf care team for the Riverside course, in collaboration with the leadership of the Mountainside and Creekside courses. This includes meeting or exceeding our established standards for employee satisfaction, guest satisfaction, sales and financial performance. As the Head Grounds Person, you must lead by example by taking a proactive position to all issues concerning the Turf Care team.

Wage for this position is $30-$32/hour.

**Major Duties & Responsibilities**:
1. **Grounds Maintenance Leadership**: Provide leadership and direction to a team of groundskeepers, overseeing all aspects of golf course maintenance, including mowing, irrigation, fertilization, and pest control.

2. **Course Improvement Projects**: Develop and implement plans for course enhancement and renovation projects, ensuring adherence to budgetary and timeline constraints.

3. **Equipment Management and Maintenance**: Manage and maintain all groundskeeping equipment, ensuring proper functionality and safety protocols are observed. In conjunction with the Lead Mechanic, coordinate equipment maintenance schedules and repairs as necessary.

4. **Environmental Stewardship**: Implement sustainable practices for turf management and landscape maintenance, minimizing environmental impact while preserving the natural beauty of the surroundings.

Create a fertilizer/chemical and spraying calendar for the week, month, and year for all golf courses, and communicate details to the relevant authorities as required. Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory of various fertilizer and chemicals.

Communicate daily with the irrigation team to discuss water requirements: moisture on greens, tees, fairways, rough, trees, tee plants, etc.,

5. **Budget Oversight**: Assist in the development and management of the annual groundskeeping budget, monitoring payroll, labour costs, expenses, and identifying opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality.

6. **Team Leadership**: Provide daily supervision, workload allocation, training, guidance, and performance feedback to groundskeeping staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.

7. **Guest Experience Enhancement**: Collaborate with other resort departments, including golf operations and hospitality, to ensure seamless coordination of activities and services, ultimately enhancing the overall guest experience.

8. **Special Events Support**: Coordinate with event planners and golf operations staff to prepare the courses for tournaments, outings, and other special events, ensuring optimal playing conditions and guest satisfaction.

9. **Communication**: Maintain open lines of communication with resort management, groundskeeping staff, and other relevant stakeholders, providing regular updates on course conditions, maintenance activities, and project progress.

10. **Health and Safety Compliance**:

- Enforce safety protocols and regulatory compliance standards to ensure a safe working environment for all staff members. Stay informed about industry regulations and best practices related to grounds maintenance.
- Ensure strict adherence to the resort's health and safety program, including the implementation of policies and procedures to promote a safe working environment for all groundskeeping staff.
- Stay informed about relevant provincial and federal health and safety legislation, including WorkSafeBC regulations, and ensure full compliance with all requirements.
- Conduct regular safety inspections of equipment, facilities, and work areas, identifying and addressing potential hazards promptly.
- Develop and facilitate safety training programs for groundskeeping staff, emphasizing proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), safe operating procedures for equipment, and emergency response protocols.
- Investigate and report any workplace incidents or near-misses, documenting findings and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Collaborate with resort management and health and safety representatives to continuously improve safety protocols and mitigate risks across all golf course operations.
- Serve as a role model for safety-conscious behavior, promoting a culture of accountability and responsibility among groundskeeping staff. Represent turf care at the Joint Health and Safety Committee.

Co-operate and accept other assignments as and when required.

**Minimum Qualifications & Skills**:

- Qualifications/certification in related field.
- OFA level 1, and BC Pesticide Applicator License preferred.
- 3-5 years of related work experience or training.
- Excellent written and oral communication.
