Join Our Team as a Sustainable Agriculture Instructor

Are you a seasoned professional in the agriculture industry with a passion for education? SELC College is a leader in vocational and technical education, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Instructor for our Canadian Family Farm Program for our special project in partnership with the Brazilian Government.

Position Overview:
As the Instructor for the Sustainable Agriculture Program, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our students. You will deliver high-quality instruction, drawing on your industry experience and academic credentials to prepare students for successful careers in the sustainable family farming. Your expertise will guide students through the complexities of sustainable agricultural projects, including planning, execution, and leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

- Curriculum Delivery: Teach a condensed curriculum covering Canadian family farming, sustainability, agricultural technology and policy framework
- Student Mentorship: Provide mentorship and guidance, fostering a supportive learning environment.
- Practical Application: Integrate real-world scenarios and case studies to enhance practical understanding.
- Assessment & Evaluation: Develop and administer assessments to evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback.
- Industry Insights: Stay current with industry trends and incorporate relevant developments into the curriculum.
- Program Development: Collaborate with the academic team to refine and update course materials to reflect industry standards.

Qualifications:

- Educational Background: Preferably a Diploma or degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Environmental Science, or a related field. Advanced degrees are an asset.
- Professional Experience: If diploma or degree then a minimum of 3 years of experience in agriculture, with a proven track record in overseeing family farms, team leadership, greenhouse, and farm administration. If not educational component, then a minimum of 10 years experience in agriculture or farm management.
- Teaching Experience: Previous instructional experience at a post-secondary level is preferred but not required. On the job teaching and mentoring will be considered.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts in an accessible manner.
