**Systems Technician**

In accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values, and strategic directions of Provincial Health Services Authority patient safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at PHSA, and as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position. Performs duties related to the implementation and maintenance of information technology services and equipment including desktops, laptops, mobile devices, peripherals and audio/video equipment. Provides technical support, investigates and resolves end user service trouble calls, installs, configures and tests hardware and software, monitors and maintains a variety of systems, and performs various record keeping functions including documenting client and technical support procedures.

**What you’ll do**
- Responds to system, communications and client issues by investigating problems and taking corrective action, which may include utilizing site or vendor utilities.
- Installs, configures, modifies and tests computer hardware such as workstations, printers and other peripheral equipment. Installs and tests software according to established procedures.
- Provides information technology support to end users by performing tasks such as logging trouble tickets and assisting clients with resolution of problems related to desktop, network, hardware and software problems.
- Provides technical support by guiding clients through corrective measures via telephone, remote access in person as required to resolve issues and problems.
- Communicates information to clients in the use of computer, videoconference and telephony hardware and software by demonstrating how to use equipment, preparing and issuing handouts and responding to questions.
- Provisions and manages UBC campus wide login accounts to the Research community.
- Performs preventative maintenance of end user computer hardware systems and software by performing variety of technical tasks including software and hardware updates and upgrades. Escalates unresolved problems as required.
- Participates in the development of client and technical support procedures in areas such as hardware and software installation, testing and systems performance monitoring.
- Configures, installs and provides purchase and other related assistance to end users requesting UBC IT products including research software.
- Performs a variety of duties related to procurement of computer hardware and software, including consultation, placing and receiving orders and setup.
- Participates in IM/IT projects by providing input, suggestions and recommendations from a Help Desk perspective on topics such as mobile and computers technical advice.
- Provision and deploy UBC licensed software and services according to UBC IT policies and agreements
- Understands and appropriately applies UBC policies within the IT environment as applicable.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

**What you bring**

**Qualifications**:

- Grade 12, graduation from a recognized two year computer systems technology diploma program plus two years’ recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
