**Community Support Worker**

Birchmount Bluffs Neighbourhood Centre (BBNC) is a vibrant multi-service centre serving southwest Scarborough. We are seeking a motivated and creative individual for the position Community Support Worker, who will provide support to BBNC youth programming.

This position is funded through **Employment and Social Development Canada - Canada Summer Jobs. **The position is funded for 35 hours per week for 9 weeks at a rate of $15.50 per hour. Applicants for this position must be 15 to 30 years of age inclusive and:
(a) is a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the _Immigration and Refugee Protection Act*; and_

(b) is legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations.

**International students are not eligible. Recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian Citizens or permanent residents.

**Hours**: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm **Days**: Monday to Friday

**Main Duties of the Job**:
The Summer Community Support position will:

- Provide support to all BBNC service areas:

- This will include administrative duties, filing, phone calls and connecting with participants
- Connect participants and community residents to supports in the community
- Support program registration process
- With support from staff and volunteers, develop engagement opportunities
- Engage in Community Outreach opportunities

**Required Skills and Experience**:

- Post Secondary education preferred but not mandatory
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills (written and oral)
- Experience working with diverse individuals
- Interest in poverty reduction strategies and supporting individuals and families living in poverty in this community
- Ability to work with mínimal supervision and effectively as part of a team
- Initiative and excellent judgement
- Ability to multi-task and meet agreed upon deadlines
- A second language is an asset
