Workplace Arrangements:

Accountabilities:
- Providing legal drafting skills with a view to successful execution of contracts, including leases and franchise documentation.- Manage legal strategies to align with the company’s business objectives, ensuring proactive risk identification and mitigation.- Plan and coordinate initiatives to assess and address legal risks, safeguarding the company’s interests.- Schedule and oversee contract negotiations, including vendor, lease, and franchise agreements, to support optimized business operations.- Delegate responsibilities to ensure compliance with corporate law, real estate, commercial transactions, and intellectual property regulations.- Monitor litigation matters, coordinating with external counsel to manage risks and control costs.- Direct the development of policies and practices related to corporate governance and shareholder matters.- Ensure legal support for real estate transactions, including leasing, acquisitions, dispositions, and property management.- Maintain effective collaboration with internal teams and stakeholders to address ongoing legal needs and ensure operational efficiency.- Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) or Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited Canadian law school.- Active membership in the Law Society of Ontario.- A minimum of 5 years of experience practicing in corporate law.- Full bilingual proficiency in English and French.- Industry experience in retail/franchise, consumer goods, supply chain, or e-commerce.- Experience overseeing litigation matters and working with external counsel.- Exceptional legal drafting skills, with the ability to create clear and enforceable contracts, including leases and franchise documentation.- Strong organizational and planning skills to coordinate legal initiatives and monitor compliance with laws and regulations.- Excellent negotiation skills to oversee and drive successful contract outcomes.- Ability to delegate and manage responsibilities effectively to ensure operational efficiency and compliance.- Demonstrated ability to mentor and direct legal assistants or junior team members in day-to-day activities.- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to assess legal risks and implement mitigation strategies.
