Residential Support Worker

Altona, Canada Blue Sky Opportunities Full time

Blue Sky Opportunities is looking for dynamic staff to provide residential support services for people living in agency operated residences. Staff must encourage independence, as well as assist in aspects of daily living with a focus on integration into community. Hours of work could include daytime, mainly evening and alternating weekends with possible sleep or awake nights depending on the position. We currently have full time and part time positions available.

This positions require the successful applicants to meet not only the expectations set out by Blue Sky Opportunities, but also other governing bodies to include Residential Care Licensing, Department of Family Services, the Fire Commissioners Office and to work with the Community Service Worker, Public Trustee/SDM and family members.

**Qualifications**:

- Understanding and implementation of the Vulnerable Persons Act
- Provide existing and new community integration opportunities
- Previous experience in behavioral management a definite asset
- Able to assist with ADL care as well as cooking and cleaning
- 18 years of age and older and provide clean criminal record, child and abuse registry
- Mentor, guide and train independent living skills
- Able to work independently and as a part of the team
- Excellent communication skills, both oral & written
- Ability to adapt to change and work independently
- Desire to take initiative
- Shift work required may include sleep overnight stays and alternating weekend based on a 2 week rotation
- A valid driver’s license, access to a registered vehicle

- Health care or related: 1 year (preferred)
