**Field Technician - Project Lead (Emission Services)**
**Location: Edmonton**

**Job Overview and Responsibilities**:
Lead Source Testing field projects - scheduling, preparation and completion of testing with follow-up communications as required. Conduct basic and more complex field sampling projects. Includes preparation of equipment and chemicals, client confirmation and site-specific safety training, field sampling, field QA/QC of data, collection of field data, fill out daily WHA forms and project records

**Primary responsibilities include the following (but are not limited to)**:

- Lead daily pre-job tailgate prior to commencing work.
- Supports and complies with all Bureau Veritas policies, Quality System and Health & Safety program.
- Work with Management to assist with scheduling projects.
- Lead testing crews of 2 or more employees and coordinate large scale multi-source projects.
- Understand reference test methods thoroughly and ensure staff review reference methods prior to projects.
- Communicate with site contacts to ensure project timelines and project scope is understood by both parties.
- Mentoring and training new and junior staff, site supervision of junior staff in absence of supervisor.
- Ensure fleet units and trailers are clean and presentable and maintained in proper operating condition.
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of personal gas monitors and all required PPE by all field technicians onsite.
- Adheres to Bureau Veritas Code of Ethics Policy.
- Participates, when requested in Emission Services health and safety meetings.
- Participates, when requested in Emission Services internal and external audits.
- Equipment maintenance, repair and calibration at direction of Manager or Supervisor. Assist training of junior staff on maintenance requirements.
- Ensuring bays and common workspaces are kept clean at all times.
- Keeps personal work area clean, neat and organized.
- Providing excellent customer service by always presenting a professional attitude and representing Bureau Veritas in a positive way; complying with all client and Bureau Veritas safety initiatives and rules; ensuring that all Client requests and expectations are met.
- Performing QA/QC of data as required.
- Implementation, maintenance, and improvement of the management system
- Identification of deviations from the management system, including standard operating procedures and work instructions
- Initiation of actions to prevent or minimize such deviations.
- Reporting to management on the performance of the management system and any need for improvement
- Ensuring the effectiveness of field activities
- Development, modification, verification, and validation of methods
- Analysis of results
- Where applicable this may include statements of conformity or opinions and interpretations
- Report, review and authorization of results
- Authorizing the resumption of work in the event that work has been halted due to nonconforming work or other reasons
- Approving documents for adequacy
- Training and authorization of personnel to perform field activities
- Maintaining a positive, cooperative work environment.
- Communicating with the Supervisor to ensure the correct level of supplies.
- Develop a strong supportive relationship with the Manager and Supervisors.
- All other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Manager.

**Is there a mutual fit? You ideally have**:

- 2-year technical diploma or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 1 year experience performing source testing.
- Minimum 6 months experience leading source testing projects.
- Excellent and current knowledge of source emission testing methods ad theories including AENV, Environment Canada and US EPA Reference Methods
- Excellent understanding of source testing equipment - mechanics, plumbing and electrical.
- Excellent understanding of government regulations and laws pertaining to source emissions testing.
- Good understanding of industrial processes.
- Adaptable and willing to travel and work extended hours in the field.
- Knowledge of safe work procedures and requirements.
- Skilled in problem solving, effective communication, mentoring, coaching, leading a team and customer service.
- Possess an energetic, motivated, positive, analytical mindset.
- Good knowledge of MS Office capabilities.
- Good driving record with less than 6 demerits and meets federal carrier driver requirements.

**Working Conditions**:

- Work primarily involves out-of-town travel.
