We are a world-class nonprofit digital library headquartered in San Francisco. Our mission is to provide universal access to all knowledge: the books, Web pages, audio recordings, videos, software, and other artifacts that make up our shared culture. While we are best known for the Wayback Machine (an archive of over 735 billion web pages dating back to 1996), we also digitize thousands of books and other materials each day, and partner with over 1,100 libraries, archives, museums, universities, and nonprofits. Together our small but passionate team has built Archive.org into one of the world’s top 300 websites.

The philanthropy team at the Internet Archive is responsible for connecting the Internet Archive with the generous supporters who help us succeed. With over 100,000 donors contributing to us each year, we work hard to make sure that we build strong relationships with our community. As our Digital Engagement Specialist, you’ll help us draft a wide variety of materials, optimize the donor experience, and develop long-term communications strategies. You’ll be able to explore the huge range of projects and programs we work on and find ways to share that work with our contributors.

**Responsibilities**:- Create content for a variety of audiences—from major philanthropists to small-sum donors, book lovers to software engineers, nostalgists to futurists and everyone in between- Customize and orient content for specific donor segments, platforms, and groups- Proofread and copy edit other people’s writing; review not only content but also spelling, grammar, formatting, and display on several different platforms and channels- Develop long-term communication strategies to help us achieve our fundraising goals: maintain a content calendar, brainstorm story ideas, and plan out short campaigns-
- Evaluate and optimize overall donor experience-determine the right cadence for communication, provide our supporters what they’re looking for, and find ways that we can make our donors’ lives easier

**Qualifications**:
Excellent writing ability- Strong research skills and a willingness to seek out interesting, engaging content- Great attention to detail- A data-driven mindset-willingness to revise when new information arises, keep an open mind about the best approach, and go where the analysis leads us- Experience with A/B and multivariate testing is a huge plus- HTML experience is a plus- 3 - 5 years experience in communications, public relations, fundraising, or a related industry- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field

**Job Details**:
This is a remote-first position on a remote-first team, although occasional travel to San Francisco will be required. The role reports to the Digital Marketing Manager and Director of Philanthropy.
