**Your Opportunity**:
Reporting to the Water Resources Analyst, the GIS Technician, Flood Hazard Mapping, will:

- Identify, collate, and/or generate data to support modelling of the flood hazard, including analyzing GIS datasets, generating new GIS layers, and supporting hydraulic model set-up;
- Prepare cartographic products, geospatial datasets, and databases to support flood hazard mapping initiatives;
- Review engineering drawings and reports to collect and organize available data related to significant hydraulic and hydrologic structures;
- Support planning and execution of the field survey program involving the inspection and survey of culverts bridges, on-line ponds, etc.);
- Document field data within a geodatabase, technical memos, reports and cartographic products; and
- Identify and recommend process improvements related to data collection and management.

In this position you will work closely with the Flood Hazard Mapping team to support modelling and mapping updates that define the extent of regulatory flood hazards and play a critical role in protecting people and property.

**Your Qualifications**:

- Graduate from a recognized college or university degree program or post-baccalaureate diploma in Geographical Information Systems, Water Resources Engineering, or related program
- Knowledge and experience working with:

- GIS and the ArcGIS environment, data management systems, positioning technologies and equipment including working knowledge of standards for data collection, integration, conversion, manipulation, storage, and maintenance and GIS editing rules (e.g. polygon and edge rule topology)
- aerial photography interpretation
- cartographic design principles
- specialized software packages (e.g., ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Pro, Spatial and 3D Analyst, Survey123, ArcGIS Collector, Access, and SQL Server)
- Driver’s license
- Ability to freely traverse the natural environment carrying equipment (approx. 15 lbs) is required
- Knowledge of hydrologic and hydraulic modelling principles and software is an asset
